Donald Trump surged in five of the seven key battleground states where the election will be decided. Over the course of September polling averages monitored by FiveThirtyEight showed him gaining ground on Kamala Harris in Georgia, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, while North Carolina saw no change and Harris rose in Nevada. On Thursday, Harris will be joined by Liz Cheney, one of Donald Trump's fiercest Republican critics, on the campaign trail in Wisconsin.
