Used Teslas are the worst at holding their value when compared to other, less flashy electric vehicle brands - as unwanted EVs of all types clog up dealership lots. Resale values for EVs have tumbled, a stark reversal from January 2023, when a three-year-old electric vehicle was over $8,000 more expensive on average than a gas-powered car of the same age, according to car-shopping site Edmunds. The average selling price for a three-year-old EV has dropped 25 percent since January of last year, to $28,384 in September 2024 - over $1,000 less than an equivalent gas car.
