Colorado coach Deion Sanders wishes his team put Wyoming away earlier than it did.
The Buffaloes had a 21-3 lead at halftime in their 37-20 victory over the Cowboys late Saturday night. Wyoming cut Colorado's lead to 10 points with 4:32 to go before QB Kaidon Salter broke a 35-yard TD run with 1:46 remaining to quash any hopes of a late comeback.

Saturday was also the debut of Colorado's new Ralphie mascot as the 1-year-old buffalo made her first run ahead of the game.
"I heard she was energetic, started out well and finished strong unlike us," Sanders said. "I'm not happy with the finish. I'm happy with the results but I'm not happy with the finish. I told our young men, too much haha and heheing on the sideline when we got the lead and hats off to the opposition. They did a wonderful job, Wyoming, of getting back in that game and playing their butts off with a no quit attitude. Much love to their head coach, much love to that coaching staff. Nothing but the utmost respect.
"They came here and played their butts off and they did not give up. And I wish we could be a little more, have a little more killer instinct in us to really put teams away like we're capable of doing."
Salter got the start after he didn't start in the Buffaloes' Week 3 loss at Houston. After starting the season-opening loss to Georgia Tech, Salter was Colorado's starter in Week 2 against Delaware, but Sanders implemented a QB rotation for that game as Salter, JuJu Lewis and Ryan Staub all saw playing time.
Staub started against Houston, but Sanders went back to the Liberty transfer on Saturday night. That decision paid off. Salter was 18-of-28 passing for 304 yards and three touchdowns and he rushed 11 times for 86 yards and that late-game score.
"I don't think he lost his confidence, I just think he had to understand how we do things. When you do those type of things that we need done and understand what we need as a team, it's easy. I don't hear anybody talking about [offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur] tonight, where that went? Anybody? Anybody?" Sanders rhetorically asked with a chuckle.
"Oh that's gone? For at least a week right? When we execute, it's a beautiful thing. When we don't, it's going to be blame assessed. I understand that life. I've been in this sports world for a long time. I'm thankful that you got to see some wonderful plays that he's capable of making. That you got to see some wonderful calls that was made from the top. You got to see some wonderful execution that was by the offensive line as well as the backs. They ran their butts off."
Colorado had 497 yards of total offense as the Buffaloes rushed for 193 yards. That tied the most yards Colorado has rushed for since Sanders took over ahead of the 2023 season.
The Buffaloes (2-2) host BYU in Week 5. The Cougars beat East Carolina 34-13 at home on Saturday night to move to 3-0.
