In one Instagram post marking the occasion, the Good Morning America co-host revealed the sweet anniversary surprise they enjoyed
Roberts and Laign previously told PEOPLE they were planning an "adventure" in Rwanda for their anniversary, and later shared highlights of their 2.5-mile trek to see gorillas in the wild during the August trip
Robin Roberts and wife Amber Laign are celebrating two years of marriage!
To mark the occasion on Monday, Sept. 8, the Good Morning America co-host, 64, shared a post on Instagram featuring highlights from the couple's lively second wedding celebration in New Orleans, set to some jazz music. (Their first wedding took place in the backyard of their Connecticut home, followed by a reception at Farmington Gardens.)
"Can't believe it's already been 2 years," Roberts wrote. "My big sister @sallyann_roberts and her husband Ron graciously hosted a lovely post-wedding celebration…the music and pics are big clues where it took place…no place like home! Mrs&Mrs 💕."
In a separate joint post, Roberts and Laign shared photos of their backyard nuptials, including a shot of themselves holding hands under a moss-draped tree.
"Happy Anniversary my love 💫❤️," Laign wrote to the news anchor in the caption. "The happiest day/ night of my life! I will never forget laying my eyes on you for the first time that day, my heart felt like it was going to explode out of my chest. You took my breath away 🥹."She continued: 'The most beautiful intimate ceremony in our backyard with loved ones followed by the most epic dance party…I mean reception where LOVE filled every inch of that room 💫 #LOVEWins and you won my heart forever ❤️. Happy two years and forever to go ✨."

In a third post, Roberts shared a glimpse of a sweet surprise the couple was treated to in honor of their wedding anniversary. The camera panned over a dessert on a plate with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate.
The dessert appeared to feature layers of cream and strawberry and banana slices, topped with a scoop of ice cream and chocolate drizzle. A small lit candle was placed next to the cake.
"We appreciate all the well wishes on our anniversary," Roberts wrote in the caption. "Who knew a blind date 20 years ago would lead to marital bliss?!"

Back in June, Roberts revealed the big adventure she and Laign were planning for their second wedding anniversary. While chatting exclusively with PEOPLE at the opening night of Broadway's Call Me Izzy at Studio 54 on June 12, she said the couple was taking a trip to Rwanda.
"Because we wanted to celebrate that way, because our time together has been an adventure. And we thought what better way than to be with the gorillas ... in Rwanda?" Roberts explained.
In August, Roberts and Laign shared a behind-the-scenes look at some of their gorilla encounters on Instagram, writing, "Truly an incredible experience to lay your eyes on the majestic beings in the wild."

At the Broadway opening, Laign also shared the secret to her and Roberts' lasting relationship.
"We keep it fresh," Laign told PEOPLE. "You've got to keep it fresh, have our little date nights. We're on a little date night tonight."
