Teri Hatcher premieres Desperately Devoted, a Desperate Housewives rewatch podcast with her daughter Emerson Tenney and former on-screen daughter Andrea Bowen
The three women tell PEOPLE what motivated them to start the podcast, how they think the series holds up and how they work together as a trio
They will use the iconic ABC drama, which aired from 2004 to 2012, as a springboard for discussions about relationships, parenting, identity and more
Teri Hatcher is revisiting Wisteria Lane — with the help of two very important women in her life.
The actress, 60, launched her new podcast Desperately Devoted on Tuesday, Sept. 9, PEOPLE can reveal exclusively. Hatcher's real-life daughter, Emerson Tenney, and her on-screen daughter from Desperate Housewives, Andrea Bowen, are her cohosts.
For Hatcher and Bowen, 35, the podcast will be a trip down memory lane as they rewatch episodes of the hit ABC drama, in which they played mother and daughter Susan and Julie Mayer. Meanwhile, Tenney, 27, will view the series for the first time, nearly 21 years after it began airing.
As they delve into the show's eight seasons, the trio will also branch off to discuss pertinent themes like relationships, parenting, identity, the notorious Y2K fashion and cooking (despite — or because of — Susan's culinary weaknesses).

Desperately Devoted comes at a "serendipitous and timely" moment for Bowen, who is expecting her first child with husband (and former Housewives costar) Josh Zuckerman.
"Revisiting the show at this time with my TV mom of so many years and her daughter, whom I got to grow up alongside, while I embark on this journey of motherhood with my daughter, feels really special," Bowen tells PEOPLE.
While the nostalgia factor has inspired them to pursue the rewatch podcast, the three women also find that the series holds up today. Hatcher praises showrunner Marc Cherry and the crew for producing "such good television" in just the first six episodes.
"The first two minutes of this pilot, I was mind-blown. I couldn't believe that I was even in it," says the Golden Globe winner.
She praises the show for including bold moments from the start like "a shot of John the Gardener's naked butt as he's trimming the bushes" and Marcia Cross's line as Bree Van De Kamp: "Rex cries after he ejaculates."
"Lines like that 20 years ago just weren't being done," Hatcher says. "This wasn't HBO. This was ABC Sunday nights at 9."

Emerson, whom Hatcher shares with ex-husband Jon Tenney, points to the show's ageless quality. "Stories that center around place and the identities of people that inhabit that specific place … are really timeless," she says, citing modern examples like The Hunting Wives.
As a first-time viewer and a screenwriter, Emerson brings a fresh perspective to the table that complements the two actresses. Bowen says she and Hatcher "do a pulse check" with Emerson throughout the episodes to ask, "How is this holding up?"
"It's really nice to have Emerson's take to give that check-in of, 'I think this holds up really well, and I think this is fun to look at again and reconsider. It feels like it was part of that time of the early 2000s,' " Bowen explains.

Hatcher cherishes the opportunity to reflect on her eight years as a mainstay of the Emmy-winning series, especially with "these two brilliant people."
"I really am giddy with joy that I get to do this with my real daughter and my on-screen daughter," she says. "The fact that I've known [Andrea] since she was 13 and was at her wedding in Barcelona last year, that's just amazing to me and feels like part of a life well spent."
Aging, Hatcher adds, has given her a new lens of "gratitude and forgiveness" when looking back on her past projects like Desperate Housewives, Lois & Clark and Coraline.
"Generations of families will come up to me and be like, 'I watched this as a kid, and then I showed this to my kids,' " Hatcher says. "To know that someday I'll be dead and gone and that this was a little part of people's happiness, that makes me feel really good."

Desperate Housewives follows the lives of suburban moms Susan (Hatcher), Bree (Cross), Lynette (Felicity Huffman) and Gabrielle (Eva Longoria) in the aftermath of their friend Mary Alice's suicide. "Behind the facade of a postcard-perfect subdivision live four women whose lives are anything but idyllic," reads a synopsis of the show.
Desperately Devoted will debut on Sept. 9 everywhere podcasts are streamed. All eight seasons of Desperate Housewives are available to stream on Hulu.
