Glen Powell is comparing his character in the Hulu comedy series Chad Powers to his Scream Queens role, Chad Radwell, calling it the "Douchebag Olympics"
"Chad Powers is a much sweeter, kinder Chad, and one that was very inspiring to play," the actor tells PEOPLE
He also reveals if he still in touch with Scream Queen costars
Glen Powell knows two of his beloved characters should be competing in the "Douchebag Olympics."
It's nearly a decade since audiences saw Powell, 36, star as Chad Radwell, the egotistical president of the Dickie Dollar Scholars at Wallace University, on Scream Queens. Now, the actor is returning to college — and the small screen — to take on the role of former star quarterback Russ Holliday in the new Hulu show, Chad Powers.
In the comedy series, Russ goes undercover as Chad Powers to walk onto the struggling South Georgia Catfish team eight years after becoming an embarrassment following a costly mistake at the national championship.
Powell teases in an interview with PEOPLE that these are "not two guys that I would get life advice from."
"Douchebag Olympics is what I call it," he adds.

When asked if he has a favorite between the two Chads, Powell replies, "No, they're both so fun to play. Honestly, I got to say, I've been so fortunate to play just some really great characters that just make going to work the best time."
However, the Hit Man star does make a pick when it comes to who is the nicer guy between the Chads.
"I got to say, this Chad, Chad Powers is a much sweeter, kinder Chad, and one that was very inspiring to play," he explains. "I had a great time going to work every day. Not one bad day."

In addition to starring in Chad Powers, the Twisters star also serves as the show's co-creator and executive producer. While Powell didn't seek the advice of Scream Queens creator Ryan Murphy when creating the show, he has nothing but fond memories of the Fox horror series.
"I actually did not talk to Ryan about all this, but Ryan's still a great buddy," he says, referring to Chad Powers. "That character, that Chad, was a really special time in my life where I didn't really have a lot going on."
"It was an amazing moment where I got to be a part of this really stellar cast of all these exciting people," he recalls of the show, which ran for two seasons from 2015 to 2016. "I was the unknown person coming into this cast with Jamie Lee Curtis and Emma Roberts and Lea Michele and Keke Palmer."
He calls the experience "so cool" as he's been able to stay "in touch with a lot of those folks."
"I'm so happy that I get to come back to TV in this way with a show that's just as fun," he adds.

Of taking on the dual role — which required extensive prosthetics to play Chad — Powell admits, "I've just always liked playing pretend."
"I think anybody in this job sometimes feels more comfortable putting on a character and playing around and doing all that stuff," he shares. "And I think, with this one, this is the joy of going to work and just getting to be goofy with your friends."
"I mean, we're getting to be in a world that I love, which is college football, and we're getting to collaborate with your pals and make something really fun that I think the world's going to love," he adds. "So there's nothing not to love."
