Josh Allen injury update: X-rays negative on foot for Bills QB

"This is my year."

Many people will use that phrase as the calendar flips to 2026 and plenty of them won't follow through on that resolution.

Josh Allenis hoping that he won't be part of that group. TheBuffalo Bills' star quarterback has been here before with big dreams and even bigger expectations.

Without playoff nemesisPatrick Mahomeslooming in the bracket this season, Allen doesn't have to worry about leaping over that impossible hurdle. However, an injury is threatening to impact the Bills' playoff run before it even gets started.

Here's the latest on Allen's foot injury.

<p style=Week 1: Detroit Lions wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa (18) makes a catch for a touchdown against the Green Bay Packers during the fourth quarter at Lambeau Field. The play was originally ruled an incomplete pass, but the call was overturned. Despite TeSlaa's effort, the Packers won the game 27-13.

Josh Allen injury update

Allen aggravated the right foot injury that he suffered in Week 16, but X-rays were negative after the Bills' Week 17 loss to thePhiladelphia Eagles.

Head coachSean McDermott told reportersafter the game that Allen was sore and the X-rays were just to make sure nothing else was wrong.

Allen said after the lossthat his foot had zero impact. When asked if he aggravated anything, Allen simply said, "I'm good."

The quarterback was limited in practice on Dec. 24 and Dec. 25 before being upgraded to a full participant on Dec. 26. Allen was able to play in Week 17, but did appear to be limited throughout. He wasn't moving around with his typical mobility, although the heavy rain and slick field might've played a part in that.

Buffalo was eliminated from AFC East contention with their loss to the Eagles, meaning the Bills will be a wild-card team when the playoffs begin.

They still have multiple seeding possibilities on the line in Week 18 against the New York Jets.

It's unclear if the team will rest starters in advance of the playoffs or elect to play its stars in the regular season's final week.

There is some added intrigue considering Week 18 will be the Bills' last at the current Highmark Stadium. Their new home, New Highmark Stadium, will open in time for kickoff of the 2026 NFL season.

Bills QB depth chart

The Bills only carry two quarterbacks on their active roster. Notably, they do not have a practice squad quarterback either.

If Allen can't go or is limited, Trubisky projects as the one the step in.

After Trubisky, however, it's unclear what the plan would be.
