TV chef Rick Stein has spoken about his mortality fears after present process life-saving open heart surgical procedure.

The 77-year-old, who has introduced numerous cooking shows for the BBC, had the operation on the Royal Brompton Hospital, London, in 2023 after he began to turn out to be breathless.

Rick – who's married to wife Sarah and has three sons with first wife Jill – was advised to get his heart operation by his doctor after discovering his aorta wasn't working correctly.

He previously stated having his heart valve replaced 'stops you in your tracks' and leads to you 'reviewing' priorities, finally realising that he needed to 'simplify' his life.

Rick has now reflected on the 'very life-threatening experience' additional in a brand new interview, insisting he felt 'optimistic' about his well being despote making a grim prediction about his life span.

'I feel so long as you've received your health and you're optimistic usually and enjoying your life, you don't are likely to ponder too much about how little life you've received left.'
