Arsenal and Liverpool boost as Manchester United cool interest in £42m-rated Dortmund star Donyell Malen | 020A11U | 2024-03-19 16:08:01
Manchester United have handed Arsenal and Liverpool a serious increase of their bid to signal Dortmund winger Donyell Malen this summer.
The Dutchman was closely linked with a move to Previous Trafford in January, after falling out of favour at Dortmund.
Given Jadon Sancho joined the Germans from United on loan, the Purple Devils had leverage over Dortmund.
The Bundesliga giants are eager to maintain Sancho and so United might have used their interest in Malen in negotiations.
However Sky Germany say United have cooled their interest in the winger, who has 13 objectives and five assists this season.
That's a boost for Arsenal and Liverpool, who have registered their interest within the former PSV Eindhoven ace.
Malen has made it clear to Dortmund's bosses that he needs to go away this membership and they are minded to promote him.
The membership hope to boost around £42m via the sale of Malen, who they bought for £25m in 2021.
Dortmund will then use the cash to bid for Sancho, who they bought to Manchester United for £73m in 2021.
United are able to take a serious hit on Sancho, and will take heed to bids in the area of £40m.
