CITY officers are cracking down with penalties for drivers who illegally park on sidewalks.

The parking initiative is growing citations issued to automotive house owners who depart their automobiles parked on sidewalks[/caption]

The increased enforcement began on Monday, Metropolis of Harrisburg Director of Communications Matt Maisel informed The U.S. Solar.

In accordance with a release, officials have one main message for drivers with the initiative.

"In case you are caught parking on the sidewalk within the Metropolis of Harrisburg," city officials said within the news launch.

"Public security officers have a message for you: You'll pay."

Parking on sidewalks is a violation of Chapter three, Section 121.3 of the City Code.

The regulation states: "The operator of a car shall not…park a car at anywhere between the curb line or property line of any road."

In addition to serving tickets to violating automobiles, Harrisburg Metropolis Code allows for extra penalties for every hour a automotive isn't moved.

The regulation relating to parking within the metropolis states:

"There shall be a separate illegal parking charge of $30 for each consecutive separate interval of 1 hour throughout which such unlawful parking continues."

Maisel careworn that the City of Harrisburg is "merely implementing a policy already in place" with the crackdown.

The choice to crack down comes after group engagement conversations, in response to the release.

The boards have been led by Harrisburg Metropolis Council's Public Safety division.

"After listening to the considerations of our residents concerning the ongoing parking points within the city of Harrisburg," Public Security Chairman
on Harrisburg Metropolis Council Lamont Jones started in a press release.

"To make sure the security and accessibility of pedestrians and residents, I'll continue to work successfully and collectively with metropolis authorities on the considerations of citizens in the nice metropolis of Harrisburg."

The Harrisburg City Director of Communication stated The City doesn't presently have a variety of tickets issued.

Maisel added that the division might have an update on the quantity of tickets issued as a part of the initiative inside a month or two.
