A Chicago man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for the murder of a police officer in August of 2021. Emonte Morgan, 24, was found guilty in March of first-degree murder, attempted murder of a peace officer and possession of a firearm as a felon. Morgan fatally shot 29-year-old Ella French, wounded her partner Officer Carlos Yanez Jr., and fired a shot at Officer Joshua Blas during a traffic stop.
