Florida has become the first state to recommend removing fluoride from its public water systems because of the risks it poses to children's brains. The mineral has been increasingly part of public debate since a bombshell government report published earlier this year and comments made by Health and Human Services nominee Robert F Kennedy Jr. The report concluded consuming high levels of fluoride can harm brain development in children and is associated with a lower IQ.
