Massive influx of baby boomers to southern state is creating a 'gray tsunami'


South Carolina's population is experiencing a boom - among baby boomers. In a few years, the southern state will have more people above the age of 64 than below the age of 18, The Post and Courier reported. By 2040, more than third of residents will be 65 or older in five South Carolina counties, including coastal Beaufort, Georgetown, Horry and Jasper counties, as well as McCormick County on Lake Thurmond.
