TLC shared with PEOPLE the trailers for two upcoming medical docuseries Dangerously Obese and About Face

The shows follow individuals in urgent need of life-changing care, including those who are medically obese, and others who are seeing transformative facial reconstruction due to deformities

Fans are gearing up for an intimate look at life-changing transformations.

PEOPLE can exclusively share the trailers for TLC's two upcoming medical docuseries Dangerously Obese and About Face, which follow individuals in urgent need of life-changing care — from morbidly obese patients fighting to reclaim their health to those seeking transformative facial reconstruction due to facial deformities.

Dangerously Obese — premiering October 22 — follows individuals' attempt to lose weight and reinvent their lives with the help of renowned bariatric surgeon, Dr. Charles Procter, who is known for his work with Amy and Tammy Slaton on 1000-LB Sisters. Each episode follows a new patient as they navigate the ups and downs of their weight loss journey.

In the trailer, Proctor breaks down the harsh reality for his patients and explains how crucial it is to get their weight under control.

"I'm disappointed because I don't think you have any real idea how unhealthy you are. You're gonna rob your child of his mother," he tells one patient before adding in a confessional, "A lot of people think things can get better in the future. There may not be a future."

"I don't have to tell you. You're kind of a ticking time bomb," Proctor tells another woman, who also has family members trying to hold her accountable at home.

"You want your kids to bury you? This is a life and death situation," a family member warns her. "You want to live or you want to die?"

One man struggles with standing too long while pushing his daughter on the swings. He admits he wants to be active with his little girl, but he's "scared to death" of trying to get on top of his health. Another patient is brought to tears as she watches "skinny" girls around her, expressing her desire to lose weight and "feel pretty."

The trailer ends with a glimpse at the exciting moment the stars show off their weight loss transformations to their loved ones in a big reveal.

Additionally, About Face — premiering October 29 — features a team of Los Angeles-based plastic surgeons as they take on some of the most complex and medically challenging facial reconstruction cases. The series will highlight their physical and emotional journeys as Dr. Jason Roostaeian, Dr. Millicent Rovelo and Dr. Andre Panossian help patients who have suffered from severe facial deformities, traumatic injuries, and rare conditions, including massive tumors, extensive birthmarks, and disfiguring accidents.

In the trailer, patients open up to doctors about the cause of their facial deformities, including a woman who had her "nose and jaw torn out" and a man who was hit by an underage drunk driver.

"I've been called a human dog toy, Frankenstein," one patient says while another adds, "When I look in the mirror, I'm like, 'This isn't me.'"

About Face

"We treat people that are missing major portions of the face — missing jaws, missing ears. The list goes on," Roostaeian explains.

"From the moment you make the incision, everything is difficult," says Panossian.

The trailer also shows the emotional moments when patients see the results of their transformative surgeries, with many brought to tears.

"I love what I do because our work can change a person's life," Rovelo says.

The series premiere of Dangerously Obese airs Wednesday, October 22 at 9pm ET/PT on TLC. The series premiere of About Face airs Wednesday, October 29 at 10pm ET/PT on TLC.
