PEOPLE confirmed the longtime couple's split on Sept. 29
The Oscar-winning actress and the country singer have been married since 2006, and share two daughters together
Nicole Kidman leaned on her daughters over the summer amid her separation from her husband Keith Urban.
PEOPLE confirmed on Monday, Sept. 29 that the 58-year-old Oscar-winning actress and the country singer, 57, have split. "She didn't want this," a source told PEOPLE exclusively. "She has been fighting to save the marriage."
Kidman is finding comfort in family at this time, the source added, saying, "Nicole's sister [Antonia] has been a rock and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another."
During the past few months, while Urban was on tour, Kidman also found solace in her daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, whom she shares with the "Messed Up As Me" singer. Kidman also shares daughter Bella, 32, and son Connor, 30, with ex-husband Tom Cruise.

A source close to the family told PEOPLE in August that Kidman, Sunday and Faith "have been inseparable" all summer.
"While Keith has been away on tour all summer, Nicole and her daughters have been inseparable, spending time together bonding," the insider said on Aug. 19. "Now the focus is back to school in Nashville, where Nic has been getting the girls ready for the new year."
The family had been living in Nashville, which the source said Kidman loved for many reasons.
"Nicole lives full-time in Nashville. She loves the tight-knit community and group of friends that she has built, and it's the perfect place to raise her children," the insider added at the time of the Practical Magic 2 actress.

Urban spent the summer on his High and Alive World Tour, and has more shows scheduled through mid-October. He also has concerts scheduled for the Bahamas and the U.K. in March 2026.
Kidman and Urban first met at the G'Day USA gala in Los Angeles in 2005, and have been married since 2006.

In 2018, the Perfect Couple actress spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about how she and Urban kept their decades-long romance alive.
"I think it's knowing that you have to keep contributing to what we call the 'us.' You go, 'Does this work for us?'" she said. "When you make an us, it's yours together — that's what you create."
More recently, while talking to PEOPLE for the magazine's 50th-anniversary special issue in 2024, Kidman gushed about her husband. "I'm so lucky that I have Keith who's just my love, my deep, deep love," she said.
