Robin Wright said in a new interview that she remains "such a romantic," even after three marriages

"Our hearts rebound with a belief that it's still there and it can be achieved and how wonderful when it comes again," Wright said

Wright was previously married to the late Dane Witherspoon in the 1980s and to Sean Penn from 1996 to 2010; she was most recently married to Clement Giraudet from 2018 until 2022 and is currently dating architect Henry Smith

Robin Wright says she's still a romantic at heart, even after three marriages and subsequent divorces.

Wright, 59, told AARP's Movies for Grownups on Thursday, Sept. 18 that she's "such a romantic" while promoting her new Prime Video series The Girlfriend.

"You can go through tumultuous, distressing relationships, but we rebound, don't we?" Wright said. "Our hearts rebound with a belief that it's still there and it can be achieved and how wonderful when it comes again."

Wright, who is currently in a relationship with British-Australian architect Henry Smith, has been married three times in the past. From 1986 to 1988, the Forrest Gump actress was married to the late actor Dane Witherspoon. she tied the knot with Sean Penn in 1996 and divorced from him in 2010. (Wright and Penn, 65, share two children: daughter Dylan, 34, and son Hopper, 32).

In 2018, Wright married fashion executive Clement Giraudet. She filed for divorce from Giraudet, 41, in the summer of 2022, citing irreconcilable differences.

When AARP asked Wright what she does not want from romantic relationships with men any longer, the actress added, "I don't want to worry anymore. I don't want to doubt, I don't want to suspect. I don't want all those things that we did in our 20s. I can't imagine feeling again what I felt then, which was jealous, suspicious. You grow out of it like you grow out of a pair of pants."

Wright is keeping her romantic nature intact in her relationship with Smith, whom she said "is a sweetheart and just a good, decent adult," in an Aug. 31 interview with the U.K.'s The Sunday Times. In that article, she said she and Smith met roughly one year ago in a pub and then bonded over catching COVID-19 together shortly afterward.

Despite Wright's hopeless romantic nature, though she told The Sunday Times that she does not think she will marry for a fourth time. "No. God no. Why?
