It appeared that the public got a little carried away following the duo's undeniable chemistry on stage.
For almost three months, viewers witnessed dazzling performances and intense competition between 14 celebrity contestants and their professional dancing partners who were all vying for the coveted Mirrorball Trophy.
From social media starAlix Earleto actresses Danielle Fishel and Elaine Hendrix to Australian wildlife conservationistRobert Irwin, viewers were entertained not only by their impressive moves but also by the connection they shared on the dance floor.
However, just when fan theories weren't enough, the two-time Olympian and Sosa literally made headlines after a publication ran a story about their alleged engagement and Chiles' potential return to compete in the upcoming Olympics.
The news was titledBIG SECRET REVEALED: Jordan Chiles is secretly engaged to herDWTSdance partner Ezra Sosa after finishing 3rd in the finals, but at the same time revealed plans to "drop out of UCLA" to prepare for her comeback at the 2028 LA Olympics with a newBeyonceroutine. It sparked immediate reaction from the duo, who addressed the fake news head-on.
Sosa shared the screenshot on his Instagram Stories as he cleared up misconceptions, noting, "News to me."
Moreover, he also tagged the Olympic gymnast and playfully commented, "Congratulations to us."
As for Chiles, she reposted it with a laughingemojisignaling she's not taking the rumors seriously.

It's no secret that the pair built genuine connections on and off the camera but they've drawn the line at going as far as having a secret engagement.
Prior to the finale episode, the 24-year-old gymnast penned a sweet message for Sosa whom she called "best partner ever."
In anInstagram post, she expressed how grateful she was for thefriendshipand the experience of being with him in the competition.
"Wow! Ummm idk what to truly say about this whole experience… but one thing I can say is that god gave me the best partner ever and I am going to miss this whole experience with you! Ezra you have turned me into a ballroom dancer and also helped me tell my story! I don't want this to end but HAPPY FINALE DAY!!! You have inspired me in so many ways and I hope I did the same for you! To many more memories to make and more food to order!I love youDIVAAAAAA @ezra.sosa," she wrote.
As for theDWTSpro dancer, he also expressed his support for Chiles in a heartfelt way by defending her against those who were labeling her a"mean girl" online.
It was during the Disney Night-themed episode that aired on Oct. 7 when Chiles abruptly turned and walked away after host Julian Hough mentioned a "big announcement" to the viewers.
Sosa briefly explained in the video what really happened, clarifying that it was all a misunderstanding on the part of the viewers.
