NEED TO KNOW

  • Hallmark Channel has released several teasers for season 13 of When Calls the Heart

  • Three of them have hinted at the possibility of an engagement between main characters Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) and Nathan (Kevin McGarry)

  • One clip also shows the reunion of Bill (Jack Wagner) and Georgie (Melissa Gilbert)

Will there be cause for celebration in Hope Valley sometime soon?

It sure seems that way based on the latest trailer and teasers for the upcoming season of Hallmark Channel'sWhen Calls the Heartseason 13. Fans of the hit drama series have been tracking the romance between Elizabeth Thornton (Erin Krakow) and Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry) for several seasons now, and the latest clips hint at the pair possibly taking some big steps in the near future.

"Sunday, January 4, your favorite community returns with open arms and open hearts," a voiceover says in the short trailer released on Friday, Dec. 5, "and the moment you've been waiting for."

As the announcer says, "the moment you've been waiting for," Elizabeth and Nathan appear to be going for a romantic walk without their kids, Little Jack (Hyland Goodrich), Elizabeth's son with her late first husband, and Nathan's niece / adoptive daughter Allie (Jaeda Lily Miller).

Then, Nathan receives a big hug from Elizabeth's late husband's mother, Charlotte (Brooke Shields, who isreturning to the seriesfor the first time in 10 years), and she tells him, "Don't mess this up."

But the hints don't stop there. Krakow and McGarry appeared in a pre-taped bit on Saturday, Dec. 6's live special,The Hallmark Christmas Experience: A Hometown Holiday Christmas Special, where they seemed to be organizing gifts for their costars as Krakow said season 13 was "our best season yet," with "so many surprises."

At the end, McGarry held up a small wrapped box and said, "I've got to get this diamond to Jack," before dropping the box.

In a cute teaser on Nov. 8, McGarry shows off the new mustache Nathan will be rocking at the beginning of the new season and says, "This season, Nathan has a big question hemustacheElizabeth."

Krakow pops into the frame and says, "Or does Elizabeth have a question shemustacheNathan?" as she holds up a paper mustache on a stick.

Here's what we do know: At the end of season 12, Elizabeth, Nathan, Allie and Little Jack left Hope Valley and headed to Cape Fullerton to stay with Charlotte to be closer to an insulin lab for Little Jack, who has diabetes.

McGarry also warned fans aboard the Hallmark Christmas Cruise last month that "there's an event that happens at the beginning of season 13 that kind of shatters Hope Valley and the surrounding area and sets off a journey for every character that'll run the entire season."

Still, romantic sparks seem to be flying in several directions in that Dec. 5 trailer.

In addition to Elizabeth and Nathan — who also shared a sweet moment on horseback — and several already married pairs, the clip showsMelissa Gilbert's return as Georgie McGill, the love interest for Judge Bill Avery (Jack Wagner). They may just say "hello" to one another, but it's charged.

"They have a backstory and a history, and I kissed her last [season]," Wagnersaidin June. "So that sprung a whole well of romance for my character."

Meanwhile, Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally) and Edie Martell (Miranda MacDougall) are seen walking together, and Allie and Mountie cadet Oliver Garrett (Jacob Shoemay) share a moment.

"We've sure had adventures in these woods," Allie says. With a gleam in his eye, Oliver responds, "Hopefully we'll have some more."
