Kapilovic joined DeBoer's staff in 2023 following stops at North Carolina, Colorado and Michigan State. His offensive line showed immediate improvement in Year 1, going from allowing 49 sacks in 2023 to 24 in 2024.

However, the offensive line and the offense took a step back in 2025.Alabamaallowed 32 sacks in 15 games, which ranked fourth-worst in the SEC. Along with the pass protection struggles, the Crimson Tide averaged just 3.35 yards per rush and 104.13 rushing yards per game.

Since the end of the season, Alabama has seen a mass exodus from its OL room. SEC all-conference tackle Kadyn Proctor and All-American center Parker Brailsford are headed to the NFL draft, as are Jaeden Roberts, Geno VanDeMark and Kam Dewberry.

Meanwhile, Wilkin Formby entered the NCAA transfer portal and has since committed to Texas A&M. That makes freshman All-American Michael Carroll the lone returning starter on the offensive line in 2026.

DeBoer has added offensive line reinforcement via the transfer portal with Michigan linemen Kaden Strayhorn and Ty Haywood, Mississippi State tackle Jayvin James,Ole Missguard Ethan Fields, Texas lineman Nick Brooks, and Cal Poly center Racin Delgatty joining the program. Alabama also added five offensive linemenin its 2026 recruiting class.
