PresidentDonald Trumpsaid Venezuelan opposition leaderMaría Corina Machadois coming to the United States "next week sometime" in a sit-down interview on the Fox News show "Hannity" that aired on Jan. 8.
The show's host Sean Hannity asked Trump if he would meet Machado and accept Machado's 2025 Nobel Peace Prize if she gave it to him.
"I understand she's coming in next week sometime and I look forward to saying hello to her and I've heard that she wants to do that. That would be a great honor," Trump said.

The conservative news network touted the interview as the "first sit-down interview since the capture of Nicolás Maduro" in a promotional release sent to USA TODAY.
The interview aired on the same day thatthe Senate advanced a bipartisan measureto halt further Americanmilitary action in Venezuelawithout congressional approval.
