Can you spot the rattlesnake hiding after a major Arizona downpour?Pete Thomas, For

An Arizona-based rattlesnake relocation company reported this week that monsoonal rains have forced some of the venomous reptiles to abandon hiding places, potentially placing them into conflict with people.
It's reminiscent of what occurred after a winter storm in 2024, when Rattlesnake Solutions published an image showing a snake that slithered near a Tucson residence and became nearly impossible to detect.
Can you spot that rattlesnake hiding beneath cover in the accompanying image? (Answer at bottom.)
It's not an easy quiz because only part of the rattlesnake is visible. (Viewers can also inspect the image via this link.)
Dozens of followers chimed in on Rattlesnake Solutions’ Facebook post. A sampling:
– "Nope. I’d be dead."
– "Wow! Best camouflage ever."

– "Took me about 5 minutes, that’s crazy camo."
– "Thank goodness they rattle most of the time."
– "That was tough. Excellent camouflage."
– "I finally found it."
Rattlesnake Solutions waited hours before sharing the answer in a separate Facebook post. We've provided the answer below in side-by-side images that show the location of the snake.

Folks might also wish to view the company’s latest YouTube video, which explains how heavy rain affects rattlesnake behavior, and how the reptiles are captured and safely released.
