The NFL trade deadline is approaching quickly, and the Kansas City Chiefs will feel the effects of a recent league move on their upcoming schedule.
Earlier in the week, the San Francisco 49ers agreed to a trade with the Indianapolis Colts to acquire veteran defensive tackle DeForest Buckner in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round pick. The 11-year pro has recorded four sacks, four tackles for loss, and eight quarterback hits so far this season. He also has three passes defended and a fumble recovery.
The Colts battled the Chiefs in Week 2, with Buckner adding five total tackles and a sack in Kansas City's overtime win at Arrowhead Stadium. The multiple-time Pro Bowler and former All-Pro was a standout on the 49ers team that lost to the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV.
In 158 career games, Buckner has collected 75.5 career sacks, 101 tackles for loss, and 196 quarterback hits. He and the 49ers will visit the Chiefs in Week 16 of the 2026 season on Sunday, December 27, at Arrowhead Stadium.
