Lindsay Lohan is speaking candidly about fame's enduring impact and how Hollywood continues to restrict her acting opportunities, despite her extensive career spanning decades.

In a recent interview with The Times UK before the release of her upcoming film Freakier Friday, the sequel to 2003's Freaky Friday, the 39-year-old actress discussed fame's pressures, typecasting challenges, and her ultimate decision to leave Hollywood.

Lohan expressed ongoing frustration with landing diverse roles, noting her frequent typecasting despite demonstrating range. "Yeah, I do think I was pigeonholed," she said, mentioning that working alongside Meryl Streep in A Prairie Home Companion seemed like a breakthrough. "Which is frustrating. Because, well, you know me as this, but you also know I can do that. So let me! Give me the chance." She added, "I have to break that cycle and open doors to something else, leaving people no choice. And in due time, if Martin Scorsese reaches out, I'm not going to say no."

After stepping back from acting in 2008 to focus on personal matters, Lohan eventually relocated to Dubai in 2015, leaving Los Angeles behind. The move provided relief from constant paparazzi attention. "I don't ever want my family to experience being chased by the paparazzi the way I was. They were terrifying moments I had in my life—I have PTSD to the extreme from those things," she went on. "The most invasive situations. Really scary. And I pray stuff like that never comes back. It's not safe. It's not fair."

In a recent Bustle interview, Lohan reflected that negative media coverage during her early career overshadowed her professional achievements. "I feel like some of [my work] got overshadowed by paparazzi and all that kind of stuff when I was younger, and that's kind of annoying. I wish that part didn't happen," she said. "I feel like that kind of took on a life of its own. So that's why I wanted to disappear. I was like, 'Unless there's no story here, they're not going to focus on just my work.'"

Beyond Freakier Friday, Lohan will star in and executive produce Count My Lies, an upcoming Hulu thriller where she portrays a manipulative nanny embroiled in secrets. She's also expressed keen interest in returning to character-driven classic films. "There are not many major movies I want to go and see that are like that — there's a gap and I'm craving to do work like that," she said.

Now married to Bader Shammas, whom she met in Dubai, and mother to son Luai, Lohan indicates she's entering a new chapter.

Danielle Wallace, Bonny ChuAugust 3, 2025 at 3:43 PM

Kia America issued two recall notices within a week for more than 300,000 vehicles over loose parts near the doors and windows that can fall off and pose a potential hazard to other drivers.

The recalls affect 201,149 Telluride models from 2023 to 2025 over faulty door belt moldings and 100,063 K5 models from 2023 to 2025 over window trim detachment issues, according to two separate July 28 notices from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Detached trim pieces can create "a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash," NHTSA said in both notices.

The recalled Telluride models may experience loosening and eventual detachment of its door belt molding trims – the long, narrow strip located along the top edge of the vehicle's door where the glass window meets the metal frame of the door, according to NHTSA.

The K5 models recalled may also experience the same issue with its C-pillar garnish face plates – decorative panels located near the left and right rear windows, NHTSA said in the second notice.

Due to a supplier quality issue, the C-pillar garnish face plate and door belt molding face plate "may progressively delaminate and become loose from the base of the molding," Kia North America Safety Office said in additional notices posted on July 29.

"If the vehicle continues to be driven in this condition, the face plate may eventually fall off," Kia added. "A face plate that detaches from the vehicle while in motion may create a road hazard for other road users, increasing the risk of a crash."

Owners can bring their vehicles to a Kia dealership for a free inspection and replacement of the C-pillar trim assemblies as well as the belt molding trim assemblies, NHTSA said in the notices.

"Dealers will replace the affected C-pillar garnish assembly(ies) not previously replaced under warranty with an improved one," NHTSA said. "Kia will reimburse owners for repair expenses already incurred pursuant to Kia's General Reimbursement Plan filed May 1, 2024."

Notification letters to vehicle owners of the K5 and Telluride models are expected to be mailed on Sep. 26, NHTSA said. For more information, owners may contact Kia customer service at 800-333-4542 and reference recall number SC346 for the K5 recall and SC347 for the Telluride recall, according to the agency.

Vehicle owners can check if their car is affected by visiting the NHTSA recall website, where they can search by make, model, license plate number, or Vehicle Identification Number.

NHTSA and Kia did not immediately respond to a request for comment from FOX Business.

Tom Holland is giving fans a first look at "Spider-Man: Brand New Day."

In an Instagram post on Sunday, Holland shared two on-set photos with the caption, "'Spider-Man Brand New Day' 1." Both pics show Holland in costume as the web-slinging hero. He is standing on top of what appears to be an armored vehicle while connected to a stunt wire.

A post shared by Tom Holland (@tomholland2013)

Holland's sneak peek comes just a day after the official Spider-Man Movie X account revealed the new Spidey Suit for "Brand New Day." The reveal teaser sees Holland emerge from the shadows in his new ensemble, which more closely resembles the comic-book version than his previous duds.

"We ready?" Holland asks in the video. The new Spidey Suit has more vivid reds and blues, and features a larger spider symbol than his costumes from "Spider-Man: Homecoming," "Far From Home" and "No Way Home." "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" hits theaters on July 31, 2026.

"Brand New Day" marks the fourth MCU Spider-Man installment from Sony and Disney after 2021's "Spider-Man: No Way Home." In that film, Peter Parker's secret identity is revealed to the entire world, and the young hero must turn to Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange for help. He manages to conjure a spell that makes everyone forget Parker is Spider-Man, but not without some unintended side effects. The spell pulls other web-slingers and their respective villains into Parker's dimension, leading to the viral moment between Holland and Sony's previous Spider-Men, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

"Brand New Day" is based on the Spider-Man comic storyline of the same name. In the comic book story, Parker lands a deal with Mephisto to make the world forget he is Spider-Man and resurrect Aunt May. However, the spell essentially reboots his world and dissolves his marriage with MJ.

"Shang-Chi" helmer Destin Daniel Cretton serves as director on "Brand New Day." Jon Bernthal's the Punisher and Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk, will also appear in the movie.

Gabe Lacques, USA TODAYAugust 4, 2025 at 4:30 PM

We're not going to mince words here: The Miami Marlins are for real.

We can talk about it now, because the Marlins, arguably Major League Baseball's most forgotten franchise, have reached the .500 mark after a rousing weekend sweep of the New York Yankees, who have their own issues to worry about.

But there's one team – the Milwaukee Brewers – that's played as well as the Marlins since June 13, when they began a roll that's now at 30 wins in 44 games and resulted in them being very much alive rather than a carcass to be picked over at the July 31 trade deadline.

Heck, they even held onto franchise bulwark Sandy Alcantara, which may or may not portend positive things for a winter to build upon this surprise season. Miami's pitching staff leads the majors in WHIP (1.06) and the NL in ERA (3.16) since June 27, a 31-game stretch.

For now, though, the Marlins have zoomed up four more spots in USA TODAY Sports' power rankings – and are even loitering on the fringes of the NL wild-card race, six games out but with three teams to pass.

But if they keep up this pace, there's no ceiling that can stop them.

A look at our rankings:

Agustin Ramirez and the Marlins celebrate after a win over the Yankees.1. Milwaukee Brewers (+2) -

Banged out a franchise-record 56 hits in three-game sweep of Nationals.

2. Chicago Cubs (-1) -

All-Star Game headed to Wrigley in 2027. Which uniform will Kyle Tucker be wearing?

3. Toronto Blue Jays (-1) -

Don't look now, but Max Scherzer has struck out 16, walked none and won each of his past two starts.

4. Detroit Tigers (-) -

Can they unlock a closer-like performance from newly acquired Kyle Finnegan?

5. Philadelphia Phillies (+1) -

Jhoan Duran's dominant stuff accompanied his personal intro on trip from Minnesota to Philly.

6. Los Angeles Dodgers (+1) -

Max Muncy is ready to return, with Tommy Edman likely replacing him on the IL.

7. New York Mets (-2) -

Cedric Mullins will fit very snugly on their playoff roster.

8. San Diego Padres (+2) -

Has anyone ever rebutted A.J. Preller when he simply asked, "Why not?"

9. Houston Astros (-1) -

Carlos Correa still eight days away from playing his first home game at Minut-, errr, Daikin Park since Game 6 of the 2021 World Series.

10. Boston Red Sox (+1) -

Once again, a pretty lame deadline, but Steven Matz is low-key a useful bullpen piece.

11. Seattle Mariners (+2) -

Big series win against a Rangers team suddenly right in their way.

12. New York Yankees (-3) -

Hard for Brian Cashman to blame Aaron Boone when the players he acquired blew up in the skipper's face.

13. Cincinnati Reds (+1) -

Survived the Speedway semi-debacle. Will rest of season be a red flag?

14. Texas Rangers (-2) -

Jacob deGrom the fastest to 1,800 strikeouts in both innings (1,493 ⅓) and games (240).

15. San Francisco Giants (-) -

A "soft sell" at the deadline, if you will, but now they're back at .500. One more run in 'em?

16. Miami Marlins (+4) -

Kyle Stowers with a shot at 40 homers.

17. Cleveland Guardians (+1) -

You'd think Emmanuel Clase would be the cautionary tale that gets ballplayers' attention.

18. St. Louis Cardinals (-2) -

.500 looking like their destiny.

19. Kansas City Royals (-) -

Mike Yastrzemski kind of a nice "Why the hell not?" pickup.

20. Tampa Bay Rays (-7) -

Have now lost 11 of 16 since break.

21. Los Angeles Angels (+1) -

Taylor Ward now with a career-high 26 home runs, his latest a walk-off.

22. Arizona Diamondbacks (-1) -

The Jordan Montgomery Era really was something.

23. Minnesota Twins (-) -

Like many Americans, they're struggling to be debt-free.

24. Baltimore Orioles (-) -

The deadline decimated entire roster, but lineup has responded; bullpen has not.

25. Atlanta Braves (+1) -

Don't think anyone will complain if someone calls the Speedway trophy "a piece of metal."

26. Athletics (-1) -

Just 23 wins in Yolo County; only Rockies, Nationals have fewer at home.

27. Pittsburgh Pirates (-) -

The trade of moderate success story Bailey Falter was moderately depressing.

28. Washington Nationals (-) -

Run differential now minus-134; only Rockies (-277) are worse.

29. Chicago White Sox (-) -

Luis Robert is still here.

30. Colorado Rockies (-) -

At least a few of their bros on the Yankees give them something to root for.

A 10-year-old girl died after she was seriously injured when the sailboat she was on as part of a summer was rammed by a barge near Miami.

The family of Arielle Buchman said Sunday that the little girl succumbed to her injuries after the crash involving a Miami Youth Sailing boat last week in the Biscayne Bay, CBS News reported.

"With broken hearts, we announce the funeral service of our beloved Arielle Mazi Buchman," the grieving family said in a statement.

Arielle Buchman died from her injuries.

Two other little girls on the boat were also killed. A third is still hospitalized. One passenger and the instructor were not injured.

Arielle was aboard the boat with fellow victims Erin Ko Han, 13, and Mila Yankelevich, 7, last Monday when it collided with a large barge near the Hibiscus Island, dragging their vessel underneath.

The crash happened on Erin's first day with the Yacht Club, her heartbroken father, Pil Ko, told Local 10.

"We hoped that this was all just a dream, or that a miracle would have happened," Ko said after he learned about the crash.

"That the hospital would call and say, 'Your daughter is alive. She's alright.' But no, that didn't happen. No, no, no. It's not what happened," he sobbed.

Mila, who was the youngest on the boat, was identified as the granddaughter of an award-winning Argentinian TV producer, Cris Morena, according to La Nacion.

Mila's other grandfather, Gustavo Yankelevich, and father, Tomas Yankelevich, are also producers, while her mother, Sofia Reca, is an actor.

The Coast Guard is currently leading an investigation into what caused the crash with the barge, which was supporting construction along the coast.

Officials confirmed Friday that the boat captain's recent toxicology report came back negative.

"Our hearts are with the families of those lost and all who have been affected by this tragedy," Capt. Frank Florio, Commander of Coast Guard Sector Miami, said in a statement.

"Incidents like this leave a lasting impact on our maritime community and reinforce the importance of learning from every loss," he added. The Coast Guard will conduct a thorough investigation to determine the causal factors and identify steps to help prevent similar tragedies in the future."

The Miami Dolphins have locked down Zach Sieler and made him their highest-paid defensive player.

The Dolphins reached a three-year, $67.75 million contract extension with the defensive tackle on Sunday afternoon, his agents announced. He will now earn $22.5 million a season, which is more than double what he is currently making, and will get $44 million guaranteed.

Sieler, who was a former walk-on player at Division II Ferris State, was selected in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens. He was released by the team a year later, though, and the Dolphins picked him up off waivers during the 2019 campaign. He's been in Miami ever since.

— Miami Dolphins (@MiamiDolphins) August 3, 2025

The 29-year-old team captain has erupted over the past two seasons. He's recorded back-to-back seasons with 10 sacks for the Dolphins, which has been the team-high, while averaging 59 total tackles. Before the 2023 season, he had only made 3.5 sacks in a single season.

Sieler had signed a three-year, $30.75 million extension with the Dolphins before the 2023 season, and was due to be a free agent in 2027. He is now among the top-10 highest-paid defensive tackles in the league.

"[Sieler is] the heartbeat of our defense," Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver said, via the Palm Beach Post.

The Dolphins went 8-9 last season and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2021, though the franchise still hasn't won a playoff game since the 2000 season. They'll open the season on Sept. 7 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Noah Lyles edged rival Kenny Bednarek in a spicy 200-meter final at the USATF National Championships Sunday that concluded with Bednarek shoving Lyles in the back.

After the race's conclusion, tension between the pair carried over into a post-race interview with NBC.

The high-stakes matchup was the latest between the two world-class sprinters. Lyles is a three-time world champion (2019, 2022, 2023) in the event and defeated Bednarek at the 2024 U.S. Olympic trials ahead of the Paris Games.

[Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season]

But Bednarek got the best of Lyles in Paris with a silver-medal finish ahead of Lyles' bronze-medal run that denied him double Olympic gold after Lyles was victorious in the 100 meters. Lyles later revealed that he ran the 200 meters in Paris while sick with COVID-19.

Bednarek, meanwhile, has been the dominant male sprinter on the circuit this year and was undefeated in the event in 2025 — until Sunday.

Bednarek got the early jump in Sunday's final before Lyles ran him down from behind on the straightaway. Lyles passed Bednarek late to cross the finish line first with a time of 19.63 seconds for his fifth U.S. championship in the event. Bednarek settled for the silver medal with a time of 19.67 seconds.

As they crossed the finish line, Lyles gave Bednarek a look from his place one lane to Bednarek's right. Bednarek responded with a shove in Lyles' back.

Lyles turned around with his arms raised and a few words for Bednarek. Bednarek extended his hand, which Lyles begrudgingly accepted for a handshake before an extended exchange of words. Spectators at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, collectively gasped when they saw the slow-motion replay of Bednarek's shove.

Then came the post-race interview of both runners with NBC. The tension was still fresh, and the runners were hashing things out in the range of NBC's camera and microphone before the interview commenced.

"You're right," Lyles said to Bednarek.

"I expected a call," Bednarek responded. "I'm telling you, if you've got a problem, I expected a call. That's all I'm saying.

"You know what? You're right," Lyles responded. "Let's talk after this."

Bednarek then addressed Lyles' late-race look when asked about it.

"I'm not gonna say it out here," Bednarek said. "But we've got something to do and talk about. That's all I've got to say."

The two have several weeks to work things out before they meet again on the track. With Sunday's result, Bednarek earned a spot in Tokyo for the World Championships. As the reigning world champion, Lyles' spot in Tokyo was already secure. They'll both be among the favorites to win the 200-meter final that's slated to be run on Sept. 19.

They'll also have a chance to meet in the 100-meter final in Tokyo. Bednarek secured gold in the U.S. 100-meter final on Friday. Lyles did not compete, but has a bye into that event as well thanks to his World Championship win in the event in 2023.
