Barely half a day after the Dolphins' embarrassing 28-6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Miami dropped a bombshell of its own: general manager Chris Grier was out. Owner Stephen Ross called it a mutual decision, but as you'd expect, this stirred up plenty of controversy. And now, former NFL GM Ran Carthon evaluated the smartness (or lack of) of this move.

Appearing on CBS, Carthon practically scoffed at the timing of the move. "How much are things gonna change right now? How are you going to improve this Dolphins roster at this point?" he said.

"We're basically in November. You're not gonna change in terms of trading people that are gonna come in and improve your roster. So, I don't understand what the firing of a GM does for you in the middle of the season because the season has been what it's going to be," the former Titans GM added.

He's got a point. Firing a general manager in the middle of a season is peculiar, especially before the head coach takes the fall. Grier wasn't some short-term figurehead, either. He climbed the Dolphins' front-office ladder from scout to college scouting director to GM, logging 25 years in the building.

Grier's record as GM was average at best: 77–80, three playoff appearances, zero postseason wins. But Ross's patience apparently snapped after this 2–7 start. Everyone around the league figured if heads were going to roll, head coach Mike McDaniel's would be first. The offense looks flat, the team feels lifeless, and no front-office shuffle fixes that in the middle of a season.

It's hard to find any upside in firing your general manager just days before the trade deadline. Unless interim GM Champ Kelly pulls off some sort of miracle before November 4th, this feels like change for the sake of optics. And Carthon wasn't the only one calling it out.

Stephen A. Smith lashes out at Dolphins' decision

Stephen A. Smith echoed Ran Carthon's sentiment….maybe in a more dramatic fashion. "This is BS. That's the first firing, really? That's what we're doing? The personnel that they have on their squad, although we were not happy with it, we didn't walk into the season thinking they're going to be trash. We said they got some potential."

"We said they got some potential. It was about Tua, it was about Mike McDaniels. All I know is this: I better be hearing Mike McDaniels' name today. It better not just be Chris Grier. When you don't get the job done, you don't get the damn job done, period. Don't tell me it's just him. I'm waiting for more news," Smith said, almost screaming.

Underneath the theatrics, Smith's logic tracks. Nobody thought Miami's roster was among the league's worst. They had enough weapons to at least stay competitive. If they've fallen apart this badly, that's on coaching and effort from the players.

Now, the question becomes: Does Mike McDaniel survive this? History says he probably won't. Usually, it's the coach who gets canned first and the GM soon after, not the other way around. Last season, the Raiders axed head coach Antonio Pierce and soon followed with GM Tom Telesco. The Jets did the same with Joe Douglas after Robert Saleh was gone. Next few days are imperative.

Helen Mirren is officially *Fast & Furious* royalty.

After openly campaigning for a role in the action franchise, the Oscar-winning *The Queen* actress debuted in 2017's *The Fate of the Furious* as, fittingly, Queenie Shaw, the charming criminal mother of Deckard (Jason Statham), Owen (Luke Evans), and Hattie (Vanessa Kirby). She returned in the 2019 spin-off *Hobbs & Shaw*, but through two outings, Mirren, 75, never got a chance to do the one thing she wanted more than anything else: drive a car.

Good news arrived in January, when *Fast* star and producer Vin Diesel told EW that *F9* would finally feature Mirren getting the behind the wheel. "Without giving away any spoilers… You know what, I'm going to give you a spoiler," he said. "Yes, she gets to drive. It's so awesome. She gets to drive, and she gets to drive sleek."

Ahead of Mirren's scene-stealing turn in *F9* (in theaters Friday), she strapped into the passenger seat of *EW's BINGE: The Fast Saga* to talk about her dream coming true, her unexplainable chemistry with Diesel, and possible casting for Papa Shaw.

**: I'm thrilled to talk to another *Fast & Furious* fan, especially since you basically willed yourself into these movies. So what is it that you love about *Fast*?**

**HELEN MIRREN:** Oh, well, it's the driving the cars, the spectacle of the whole thing. With this franchise, you know what you're going to get and you know it's going to be spectacular and exciting and fun. So I think especially for us all coming out of COVID and the way we've been enclosed and isolated and lonely and in a very small environment, to see this wonderful, expansive explosion of action is going to be such, such fun for the audiences. And I'm so glad that they — and it must have been a very difficult decision to make because we finished the film just before COVID started — decided to hold this film back and wait for the moment when people finally could get into the theater to watch it. So it's fantastic that people can now go and just have a great night in the theater. I think people are really going to enjoy it.

**You were pretty vocal about your hope to join the *Fast* saga, so once you got the call, how much input did you have on the development of Queenie?**

Actually, quite a lot. It could have gone in any direction. I mean, obviously she was the mother of Jason Statham's character, so there is an East End connection there. But immediately I knew how I wanted her to be this sort of tough matriarchal, powerful woman who had to make her own way in life, and has always done it slightly on the dodgy side. As we say in England, ducking and diving, but with great strength and great character and intelligence.

**Before you came aboard, did you have a favorite movie from the series?**

Not really. I wasn't honestly that familiar in a sense with the series. I wasn't an aficionado in knowing all the characters and the stories. I saw [*The Fast and the Furious*], and I really, really enjoyed it. But I had this incredible urge to drive a car fast in a movie. It was basically that, honestly, and of course my first two times out I wasn't being in a car at all; I was in an ambulance in one and in jail in the other. And so the creators of the series very, very kindly finally put me behind the wheel, where I've been longing to be.

**Ahead of *F9*, did you have to campaign at all for that?**

Oh, I didn't campaign. I whined, I moaned, I cried, I sniffled. I was annoying.

**When it finally came time for you to get behind the wheel in *F9*, you're not only driving, but you've got Vin riding shotgun, and he's *the* movie car guy.**

I know, I couldn't believe it.

**So what was that like? You did have the benefit of being on your home streets of London.**

I have to say, it was slightly intimidating. Although Vin is so generous and kind, but it was a little bit intimidating because those guys are so experienced at what they do. They know it, and it's all a bit new to me, the technicality of it. Not the driving part, but the filming of the driving. But you're in very safe and loving hands when you're in a *Fast & Furious*. It was just great to be in a very small space with Vin Diesel for quite a long time. I just loved every minute. It was great, hearing that beautiful, soft brown velvet voice really, really close, because we were squished together. Oh, I just so love his voice. He's got the best voice ever.

**There seems to be a bit of flirtatious energy between the two of you in the film. Is that something you two were actively playing up, or is that just natural chemistry?**

That's completely natural chemistry. It was there right from the very beginning of my first meeting with Vin. And I just adored him immediately, and he's always been so kind and lovely to me. So it was there right from the beginning, and it is very weird. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever on any level, but that's the weird thing about chemistry, isn't it? There's never an explanation for it. It's just one of those things that happens.

**Speaking of Vin, we previously asked him who his dream next casting was for *Fast* [watch the interview above], and he brought up Michael Caine and said he had an idea for something with you and Michael together. Has he run this by you, or are we breaking this news?**

No, but what a great idea. He's absolutely right, that would be absolutely genius. My mum was a very East End working-class woman, and Michael absolutely comes from that world as well. And I have worked with Michael before, actually quite a long time ago. We were in the same film together and he played my husband who passed away during the film.

**I think right there we might have it. We haven't met Papa Shaw yet, so maybe you and Michael bring back that husband-wife dynamic!**

No, absolutely. We haven't seen Papa Shaw — and he's going to be terrifying.

**I can only imagine. Through three times out as Queenie, we've essentially seen you work with just Vin and Jason, and Vanessa Kirby popped up for that quick prison bit at the end of *Hobbs & Shaw*…**

The great Vanessa. I'd love to work with her again. She's such a talent and lovely girl.

**And *F9* is full of so many badass women. So is that the next thing we need to campaign for, to get you in scenes with Michelle Rodriguez, Charlize Theron, and Jordana Brewster?**

Wouldn't that be good? That's the great thing about *Fast & Furious*. Of course it's about cars, and boys love cars, for sure. Also, girls love cars! I love cars. So girls do love cars, but I think the strength of the female characters for me is another great reason to be in the franchise, because I love film franchises that have really authentic, good, strong female roles. The next generation of girls need to see that — and they are beginning to.

**Now that you've gotten to drive, are there other things that you would love to do as Queenie?**

I love stunts. And I do as many as my stunts that I physically can. I love flying, for example, when they haul you up on a rope and you're flying. It's fantastic. So yeah, something to do with flying would be great, where I sort of come out of a window or something and fly through the air.

**We see the zip-lining in *F9* with John Cena's character.**

Zip-lining, wouldn't that be fantastic?! But I also quite like Queenie just being really down to earth and a real character who's just there, and tough and manipulative.

Fate of the Furious (2017)Vin Diesel, Helen MirrenFRAME GRAB

Vin Diesel and Helen Mirren in 'The Fate of the Furious'. Universal Pictures

**You've managed to be a bit of the connective tissue between the main *Fast* series and the spin-off *Hobbs & Shaw*. Have you had any conversations about what's next?**

No, I just put myself in their hands. If they want me, I'm absolutely standing there first in line. But if the stories go a different way, that's understandable. Working with Jason, Jason is the most incredibly professional, hardworking actor to work with. He's just so committed, so professional. All of these people, they're great to work with. And Vanessa was wonderful, funny, and a great girl. And the atmosphere on the sets of these movies has always been fantastic. So I'm happy to go in whatever direction they might push me — unless they decide to push me off the end and say goodbye to me. [*Laughs*]

**And that's when you fly! We'll take more of Queenie in whatever fashion.**

I love to hear you calling her Queenie because I gave her that name.

**Wow, really?**

I had an auntie Queenie. One of my mother's sisters was called Queenie, which is a very old East End name. It's nothing to do with the queen, but I thought it was funny to play *the* Queen and then to be called Queenie. We're a very different person from a very different background. So I love the fact my auntie Queenie has become a part of the *Fast & Furious*. She'd be amazed if she knew.

*EW's BINGE* podcast is here to make it clear: You think you know *RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 2*, but you really have no idea.

This week, drag superstars Alaska and Detox reunite for a special *AS2* recap in which they spill scalding tea on highlights from the fan-favorite season — including when Detox nearly changed her mind about her decision to eliminate Alyssa Edwards from the competition.

"I wanted to change it when I picked Alyssa. I just didn't do it… I knew it was Roxxxy's time to go, but I still picked Alyssa. The whole time I was like, 'God, I should've just done it,'" Detox recalls of the episode 7 moment in which she chose to eliminate Edwards over her friend, who'd appeared in the bottom across four consecutive weeks leading up to that point. "I had already put [Alyssa's lipstick] under my sleeve, and I was going to ask one of the PAs to be like, 'I can't do this, I've gotta change my lipstick,' but I didn't know how to do that. I didn't know how to navigate that. I was like, f--- it, it's already done."

Edwards' elimination was one of many juicy scenes in what fans often cite as the best season in* RuPaul's Drag Race *herstory. It marked the first time the queens, rather than the panel of judges, were tasked with eliminating each other from the competition. Alaska, who went on to win *AS2*, also tells EW how she dealt with the intense back-and-forth between viewers — including over the headline-making moment where Alaska also saved Roxxxy, seemingly because of a borrow rhinestoned top.

"You can't go around and be like, 'Yeah, I regret it, and I'm so sorry,' you have to be like, 'No, I stand behind my decision, I'd do it again,' and deal with it. In general, the fans had been really nice to me for a long time — inordinately nice to me — and all of a sudden they were really mean to me. It made me realize first of all, [the internet is] not real, it's a fiction," Alaska says. "It also gave me a lot of compassion for the majority of queens who go on *Drag Race* who don't have a very nice relationship with the fandom, who get treated like s--- by the fandom. It gave me compassion. I understand that now."

She also fondly recalls the moment Andrews lent her the infamous white top, as was in-line with the queen's character throughout the season: "I had a white shirt that I was going to wear and she had the identical white shirt, except hers was rhinestoned, so I was like, oh, work.... she's lovely and she was giving s--- to everybody and helping everybody the whole ass time!"

BenDeLaCreme eliminated herself from* RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 3* because that's what? The gag of the season. Bedtime BD herself joins the latest episode of *EW's BINGE* podcast alongside fellow *AS3* legend Kennedy Davenport to discuss the aftermath of the most shocking exit in the show's herstory.

In the episode (listen above), DeLa reveals that the "meandering path" to the decision she made to eliminate herself from the competition wasn't something she'd planned from the beginning of the competition, but rather a seemingly cosmic alignment of queen energy. For starters, she got the Wite-Out she used to write her name on one of the lipsticks from her *AS3* cast mate Thorgy Thor, and the concept to write someone else's name over an existing stick sprung from a running joke she started with eventual season winner Trixie Mattel that would've involved writing "RuPaul" or "Michelle Visage" on the tube as a prank.

"There was this moment where I was like, ok, I've really established myself, people do see me as a frontrunner, I've broken some records, if I decide I'm not going to play by these rules, no one is going to be able to say that she gave up because she couldn't do it," DeLa remembers, while Davenport confirms that other moments organically "just led up" to the big, unplanned reveal. "It was kind of this perfect thing where, in this moment, I kind of was fed up with the conflict generating with that moment with Morgan [McMichaels], I saw that I'd actually already done what I needed to do, and these little moments clicked into place.... it felt like fate."

She says she was shocked that production didn't stop her from making the choice, and she's thankful they allowed it to play out as she wished. Still, she's unsure if she would've pulled the stunt the next time she won a lip-sync if she'd lost the duel against BeBe Zahara Benet.

"Who knows? Probably not. It was a thing that was relevant to the moment. Maybe I would've, but I don't dwell on pasts that don't exist," she finishes.

Davenport insists it was a "real moment" for her, too: "I was boo-hoo crying over there, honey," she says. "You know when it's your time to go home and that was really my time to go home. Had she not went home, I do believe I probably would've gone home that episode!"

If you were slightly late to the party and bought at the start of 2024, you're up roughly 1,060%. One alternative that some investors are taking a close look at is C3.ai (NYSE: AI). On the surface, its business model is quite similar to Palantir's, as it offers AI solutions to government and commercial clients alike. It also has a $2.5 billion market cap right now, which is smaller than Palantir's when its monster run began at the start of 2023. During Q1 FY 2026 (ending July 31), C3.ai reported revenue of $70.3 million. That revenue declined 19% year over year from $87.2 million during Q1 FY 2025. That's a terrible sign for the business, and it raises immediate red flags.

Additionally, C3.ai recently announced a new CEO after its previous CEO and founder had some health issues arise. Its new CEO, Stephen Ehikian, was President Donald Trump's acting head of the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) at the start of 2025, but he took this role instead. His association with Trump may come in handy for C3.ai and its pursuits to win more government businesses, but Ehikian will have to execute a huge turnaround if the company wants to entice investors back.

If Ehikian can right the ship, could C3.ai be poised for monstrous gains?

The market has no faith in C3.ai

Following the sell-off, C3.ai's valuation is relatively low. It trades at 6.3 times sales, which is well below the 10 to 20 times sales most software companies tend to trade at.

Should the new CEO turn the company's business around, C3.ai could have a ton of room to run. Palantir's stock is outrageously valued at 135 times sales right now. The fact that the stock price keeps rising shows how highly the market values a competent AI company that's rapidly growing.

C3.ai has a long road ahead of it and has already dug itself a massive hole by falling behind in the critical first three years of the AI buildout. It can always catch up, but it has its work cut out for it. C3.ai could become the next Palanir if everything goes right, but there's enough going wrong right now that I'm willing to stay patient and watch and see what happens for a few quarters before deciding to invest.

Who is pitching Game 7? Expect the unexpected in Dodgers-Blue Jays World Series finale

TORONTO - Kevin Gausman needed a minute to get back up to speed on the lore of World Series Game 7, and his potential part in it.

He stands just 6 feet, 2 inches, not 6-10, and throws right-handed, not a southpaw. Nobody will ever accuse the Toronto Blue Jays ace of resembling Randy Johnson, the Hall of Fame left-hander who famously served as the closer in Game 7 of the 2001 World Series, earning the save one night after getting the win in Game 6.

Zero days rest. Gaus, what do you think?

"I'm in. Hell yeah," Gausman, who pitched six superb innings in Game 6, tells USA TODAY Sports. "I gotta go get ready for it, though. I gotta go (ice and heat) and do some things before I leave tonight to put myself in position to be ready.

"But yeah, whatever they need, I'm all hands on deck."

Max Scherzer reacts in the dugout after being relieved in the fifth inning of Game 3.

The call to arms is necessary because the Los Angeles Dodgers' six-batter, third-inning blitz of Gausman provided all their scoring in a 3-1, Game 6 victory, and because a ninth-inning Blue Jays rally got short-circuited by a baserunning gaffe.

Gausman pitched gallantly otherwise, but in a Game 7, the leashes will be shorter for both clubs, the strategy even more granular.

What can we expect once the final baseball game of the year jumps off shortly after 8 ET Saturday night? Only that little is guaranteed.

For starters: Mad Max in a Game 7 sequel

This much we do know: The last man to start Game 7 of the World Series for the winning club will have the ball in his hands again.

Yet what can Max Scherzer - the 41-year-old version of Mad Max - provide the Blue Jays?

The recent returns are, well, OK.

Scherzer ran the leadoff leg for the Blue Jays in the 18-inning, nearly seven-hour Game 3 marathon. He recorded 13 outs capably, but yielded home runs to the Shohei Ohtani and Teoscar Hernández. He nodded his head in agreement when manager John Schneider came to get him in the fifth inning, a 180 from his rage against the analytics machine when Schneider checke on him in ALCS Game 4.

Scherzer will be on tilt from the first pitch. Yet against a Dodgers lineup that found a modicum of footing in Game 6, he may not like it when Schneider comes a-callin' early in Game 7.

The Ohtani Rules

What a fascinating dynamic: Shohei Ohtani loves routine, and his two-way playing brilliance demands that full rest makes him at his best. Yet here we are, World Series Game 7 and the Dodgers' projected starter, Tyler Glasnow, had to record three outs to save the day in Game 6.

OK, so it only required three pitches. But Glasnow, too, is a creature of habit, and the Dodgers will go to bed after Game 6 not knowing how Glasnow may respond for Game 7.

That makes Ohtani starting almost a given. Why? Well, the designated hitter rules revised to accommodate Ohtani (and any other unicorns who may follow in his footsteps) decree that if he starts a game, the Dodgers will not lose their DH privileges even whe he comes out. That's not the case later in the game, when L.A. might be tempted to use Ohtani to put out a fire or take down a dangerous pocket of hitters to begin an inning.

Or, serve as the closer and give up a game-tying run, further handcuffing the Dodgers in extra innings.

So, expect it to be Sho-and-Go for L.A.

Fresh starts

Hey, we all love the "12 guys with their spikes on in the bullpen" fire station mentality of a Game 7. Yet there's a real good chance we'll see many, or even a majority, of starters as Game 7 unfolds.

A quick usage report, in order of ostensibly most rested:

Shane Bieber, RHP, Blue Jays: Pitched 5 1/3 innings, throwing 81 pitches in winning Game 4 on Oct. 28. He will be on three days' rest. He has not pitched in relief since 2019, and never in the playoffs.

Ohtani, RHP, Dodgers: Started opposite Bieber and threw 93 pitches over six innings, giving up a home run to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. He has not pitched on three days' rest in the big leagues.

Trey Yesavage, RHP, Blue Jays: Pitched seven innings, striking out 12 in epic Game 5 victory to put Toronto up 3-2 in the Series. Has just eight games of major league experience, none in the bullpen. Would be pitching on two days' rest. Yet is barely a year removed from college baseball, where starting on Friday and closing on Sunday might be de rigeuer if the ol' ballcoach demands it.

"After I was done, I was like, 'What's next?'" Yesavage said late Saturday night of his Game 5 heroics. "I was hoping we could take care of business and it wouldn't be a question.

"But here we are. Let's see what happens tomorrow."

Blake Snell, LHP, Dodgers: Pitched fairly well opposite Yesavage in Game 5, once he got past the two homers given up on his first three pitches, and will alos be on two day' rest. Snell lasted into the seventh inning, but the ask would be far less in Game 7. Has zero relief appearances in the regular season, but pitched out of the bullpen twice in the 2019 ALDS against Houston. Could be tempting to use in an extended pocket against Torontos Nos. 5-9 batters, which include left-swinging Daulton Varsho, Addison Barger and Andrés Giménez.

Gausman, Blue Jays and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, RHP, Dodgers: The Game 6 combatants. We'll see how Gausman's contrast therapy turns out come mañana. "Everyone that is active on the roster," says manager John Schneider, "will be available to pitch. Maybe even Kev."

As for Yamamoto, the Dodgers' $325 million prized arm and Game 2 and Game 6 winner? Not so much. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said everyone was available, yet when asked about Yamamoto, replied, "Not Yamamoto. Sorry."

No worries. Yamamoto's not about to be accused of being a slacker by anyone. We hope, anyway.

1 / 42025 World Series: All the best moments from Dodgers vs. Blue Jays Game 6Former Toronto Blue Jays star Devon White throws out the ceremonial first pitch before Game 6.The leverage guys

It's almost not even worth pondering whether the throw-til-you-blow sickos in the bullpen are available. Yeah, they all are.

But for kicks, let's just see how many times these dudes have already thrown in this World Sereis, and how effective they've been, in order of highest leverage:

Blue Jays: Jeff Hoffman - 3 games, 1.09 WHIP, two days' rest; Chris Bassitt - 4 games, 0.40 WHIP, no days' rest; Louis Varland - 4 games, 1.61 WHIP, no days' rest; Seranthony Dominguez - 4 games, 1.36 WHIP, no days' rest; Mason Fluharty - 4 games, 2.50 WHIP, no days' rest.

Dodgers: Rōki Sasaki - 2 games, 2.25 WHIP, zero days' rest; Blake Treinen - 3 games, 3.00 WHIP, two days' -rest; Justin Wrobleski - 3 games, 0.55 WHIP, no days' rest; Anthony Banda - 4 games, 2.33 WHIP, two day's rest; Emmet Sheehan - 2 games, 2.67 WHIP, four days' rest.

The rest

Anyone you haven't seen yet likely played significant roles in the 18-inning Game 3 epic, though only a couple of those guys have gotten into multiple games. Is America ready for another Will Klein-Eric Lauer extra-innings death match, only this time with the entire season on the line?

Can't imagine the heart can take too much more of that. Which reminds us: Game 7 will absolutely, positively be the final game of Clayton Kershaw's decorated career. Odds are against him providing us one more October - er, November - memory, though as we've seen, the game scripts in this Series have been unpredictable.

"I feel great. We're just we're going to leave it out there," says Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. "I don't think that the pressure, the moment's going to be too big for us.

"We got to go out there and win one baseball game. We've done that all year. Everyone's bought in. So I don't know how the game's going to play out, but as far the moment, winning a game, I couldn't be more excited to get to sleep and wake up to play a baseball game tomorrow."

Good luck with the sleep portion of that.

If you look back at the Blue Jays–Yankees rivalry this year, it's been all about Toronto's dominance on the field. They took the season series 8–5 and even knocked the Yankees out of the ALDS. But off the field, the Yankees didn't exactly stay quiet. We've heard plenty of back-and-forth from broadcasters on both sides. And with just one game left in the World Series, it's clear this rivalry is nowhere near cooling down.

And now, just as the Jays' sloppy baserunning cost them Game 6, an old comment from their own broadcaster, Buck Martinez, made back in September, has come back to bite them. "The Yankees," Martinez said, "They're not a good team. I don't care what their record is. They have a lot of wild pitches, they make a lot of mistakes in the field, and they don't run the bases very well."

Can you relate the statement to what the Jays did tonight in Game 6? You are not alone if you can, because SI's Joe Randazzo also found an uncanny resemblance.

Notably, the Blue Jays went into Game 6 with a 3–2 series lead and just one win away from being crowned champions. But things unraveled fast. It started with a questionable call to intentionally walk Shohei Ohtani, which opened the door for a three-run inning by the Dodgers.

Still, the Jays had a shot late. Down 3–1 in the ninth, Addison Barger ripped a double that put two runners in scoring position with no outs.

Now, with runners on second and third, the Dodgers made a bold move. They pulled rookie closer Roki Sasaki and brought in Tyler Glasnow, who was supposed to start a potential Game 7. Glasnow shut it down… First, a pop-up from Ernie Clement, then a flyout from Andres Gimenez. And then finally, the disaster!!!

Barger strayed too far off second, and Kike Hernandez nailed him on the basepaths to end the game. An unwarranted move to gift the Dodgers a double-play when there should have been only one out.

And just like that, a brutal baserunning mistake cost the Jays their championship moment. What's worse is that Buck Martinez's old comment about the Yankees came back to haunt them at the worst possible time.

The Blue Jays are back to basics for Game 7

Well, with the World Series now tied, all eyes are on the do-or-die Game 7. And guess what, the Blue Jays are turning to their battle-tested veteran, Max Scherzer, hoping he's got one more big performance left in him. If you remember, Scherzer started Game 3, giving up three runs over 4⅓ innings. So yes, he's not in his prime anymore, but he's shown he can still deliver when it matters, like his strong outing in the ALCS (5⅔ innings, two runs).

Meanwhile, there might even be some good luck in play. Why? Because the last time a Game 7 closed out a World Series was back in 2019, and guess who was on the mound? Max Scherzer, pitching for the Nationals, went on to beat the Astros 6–2. So, the Jays would love nothing more than to see history repeat itself.

That said, their bats will have to wake up…

Toronto's powerful offense was silent in Game 6. They just managed one run, and even a veteran like Scherzer can't win without run support. So now, after Buck Martinez's old comments about the Yankees' baserunning came back to haunt the Jays, they'll be hoping his jab about the Yankees' lack of home runs doesn't come true for them next.
