Smith reflected on her experience on "Charlie's Angels" for its 40th anniversary.

While 2016 wasn't a big year for Smith in terms of acting, she was in the media often in celebration of the 40th anniversary of "Charlie's Angels." She would share stories about her strong bond with Fawcett and Jackson and how the show changed her life, and was often described her as "the heart of the Angels."

"['Charlie's Angels'] changed our lives," Smith told People in June 2019. "We were sorta like rock stars. When we went to Hawaii for the season opener, we had guards around the clock. To my "angels" who donated...I'm so touched and so proud! Together our team raised $11,152 for this wonderful charity!"

Smith went viral in 2021 and 2022 for her youthful appearance and decision to age gracefully.

Smith had a resurgence in popularity towards the end of 2021 and into 2022 when photos she posted of her with her son went viral, with fans calling her "ageless" and commenting on her good looks at 76 years old.

"Right place, right time. That's the luck of the draw. Great lighting," she told Page Six at the time. "I'm with a person that I adore, my son, and it was a going-away party, so my eyes were probably glistening with tears there, sparkling because he's one of the humans I worship."

She also celebrated her 25th wedding anniversary in September, calling him, "my guy, my best friend, my partner in life," in an Instagram post.

The Pretty Little Liars and Enlisted actors play rival members of the military who are forced to work together to save Christmas for the children on their base.

Parrish and Young share with PEOPLE how much it meant to them to honor military families — and a hilarious "growing experience" they faced while filming

It's Nov. 1, which means Halloween is over and it's officially Christmas. And there's no better way to celebrate than with a new Hallmark Christmas movie that honors the United States military.

In Christmas on Duty, Pretty Little Liars alum Janel Parrish and Enlisted star Parker Young play feuding members of the military who have been rivals since their days in Quantico. After an argument creates a scene at a holiday party, they're thrown together to work on Christmas — just as a snowstorm is about to hit their base and keep Santa's gifts from arriving on time.

For both actors, honoring military families was a gift in and of itself.

"My sister's in the military, so this was very, very near and dear to my heart," Parrish, 37, tells PEOPLE. "She just loved that we were honoring the military families, and she loved seeing me represent. ... It was a really fun bonding moment for us."

For Young, who has played several military characters throughout his career, donning a uniform was old hat — but no less rewarding.

"I can't say enough about what the military and the service members mean to me personally," the actor, 37, tells PEOPLE. "Members of my family are in the military, my brother-in-law, and most of my best friends are in the SEAL teams. I just have so much respect for these guys, and every single time I get an opportunity to play a service member, I take it to heart. I just feel so grateful for that opportunity, and I don't want to let them down. Yeah, it's an added pressure, but also such an incredible privilege."

Below, Parrish and Young share how they found their rhythm for Christmas on Duty and the one hilarious lesson Young learned.

Parker Young and Janel Parrish on Hallmark Channel's Christmas on Duty

PEOPLE: Filming on these movies happens quickly, and I know sometimes the stars haven't even met before they show up to set on day 1. What did you do to build chemistry for this?

PARKER YOUNG: We met in the hotel the first time, and we were like, "Let's have dinner." I thought it was going to be a very short dinner, but it just turned into a nice, long, lovely evening of just getting to know each other. I think, immediately, we felt like we lucked out and we had enough chemistry to make this beautiful little rom-com Christmas movie.

JANEL PARRISH: I second that. I feel like when you realize that you have this natural connection and chemistry with your costar, you're like, "Thank you," because it really does make your job so easy and doesn't feel like work. From the get-go with Parker, being able to connect and have such easy chemistry just made our job so easy. We had so much fun. We laughed every single day.

Fred Hayes/Hallmark Media

There's a considerable height difference between you. Was that an added challenge?

PARRISH: Apple boxes. I stood on an apple box a few times.

YOUNG: I don't remember it being too much of a problem. I think she made me bend the knee and kiss the proverbial Princess of Hallmark ring a little bit. I'm the jester of Hallmark. This is my first one.

PARRISH: Jester, indeed. Yeah. I had a whole apple box runway a couple times. You just have to walk and make sure not to fall off the side.

YOUNG: She's a pro. Somehow, this tiny human beats me at the obstacle course every single time in the movie.

PARRISH: You're going to have to get over that, Parker.

YOUNG: Let's not get into it, it's a sore subject.

Fred Hayes/Hallmark Media

Let's talk about the obstacle course. How much of it did you actually do?

PARRISH: Parker did all of it. They did have stunt doubles for both of us, but he was actually to the point where they were like, "Parker, you can't ... Slow down. The camera can't catch you. You're going too fast." He is so competitive in real life. He was like, "Got to do this obstacle course and go fast." I was like, "My character has to win, so you have to not go that fast." He was just too naturally good at it. I did have a stunt double. I did most of it, but there was one [obstacle] that I was scared to do, which was climbing to the top and then over the side. I got up there, and I was like, "No, no, too scared." But I did do most of it — with the help of some wires — but I did it.

These characters obviously are very competitive, but would you describe yourselves as competitive? What does game night look like in your house?

YOUNG: I am too competitive, just generally speaking, I'm trying to work on it because I think it is good to be competitive and want to do your best. Competition can bring out the best in a person, but there's a fine line between getting too competitive, and now that I've got little girls, I'm trying to teach them a healthy amount of competition while still being happy for the other person. To answer your question, yeah, I'm too competitive and I'm obviously going to win every Christmas game that we play. ... I just want to make sure that I'm answering better than Janel right now.

PARRISH: This is what I had to deal with. [Laughs.] I would say that I am competitive with myself, so if I set a standard for myself and if I don't feel like I hit that or overcame that, then I get really competitive, But again, with myself. But with a game night, yeah, I'm real competitive.

YOUNG: That was the problem with the obstacle course scene: I had to lose. No matter how hard I tried, I had to lose. So it was really a growing experience for me to lose.

PARRISH: You learned so much.

YOUNG: Yeah, I learned a lot. Thank you for that lesson, Janel.

PARRISH: No problem.

Fred Hayes/Hallmark Media

There are a lot of funny action sequences, not just the obstacle course, especially in the back room of the store. How did all of that work? Were there any funny blooper moments?

PARRISH: There really should be a blooper reel, and I remember saying that on set multiple times because we would just break laughing and just have the absolute best time.

YOUNG: Yeah. It was so much fun. I don't know if I've ever had more fun on any project before.

PARRISH: Yeah, same.

YOUNG: Our director, Jake Van Wagoner, is just such a stud. He's so funny inherently, and he wants to create a fun environment. And also, kudos to Hallmark. I felt like everybody wanted us to have a good time while we were there, knowing that that's what's going to help create a fun movie.

Fred Hayes/Hallmark Media

Janel, is that part of the magic of making Hallmark movies and what keeps you coming back?

PARRISH: Absolutely. I'm about to go do my 10th one, I just realized, so I have done nine of these, and every time I have gone to work for Hallmark, I have the best time. I meet the best people. I have the most joyful experience, and you're right, it's because they care. They care about their team, their family, all of us, cast, crew, everyone. Their fans! And they want us to have a beautiful time making something beautiful. I think that's part of the magic of watching these films. It translates.

YOUNG: But can I ask you, which one was your favorite?

PARRISH: Oh, he's going to say something competitive right now. I already told you. It was this one. I told Parker he's in my top list of costars ever. We had the absolute best time.

Christmas on Duty premieres Saturday, Nov. 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Hallmark Channel and streams the next day on Hallmark+.

James Van Der Beek is celebrating Halloween with his family.

The Dawson's Creek alum, 48, dressed as the Phantom of the Opera from the eponymous musical, as seen in a photo his wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, shared to commemorate the holiday on Instagram.

"Happy Halloween!!!!" Kimberly captioned the family portrait, which showed off the varied costumes that the couple and their six children wore for the Friday, Oct. 31, occasion.

Kimberly dressed up as a fox, while their kids' costumes ranged from the Statue of Liberty to more traditionally spooky looks.

The pair share four daughters, Olivia, 15, Annabel, 11, Emilia, 9, and Gwendolyn, 6, and two sons, Joshua, 13, and Jeremiah, 4.

The mom of six also shared some more close-up snaps of the family's costumes — which they seemingly took out on the town for some trick-or-treating — on her Instagram Stories.

She and James posed for a selfie, in which she softly smiled while showing off some neck makeup resembling a spiderweb. The actor, meanwhile, remained in character as the iconic masked role, keeping a straight face.

"Phantom and the fox," Kimberly captioned the proud parents' selfie.

She also shared a photo of James with the couple's youngest, Jeremiah, who wore a bright yellow onesie. The father-son duo smiled as they sat side by side in a golf cart.

James, who was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer last year, appeared on wife Kimberly's Instagram feed shortly before Halloween, when she shared a snap of the actor spending some quality time with his father.

Alongside the photo of James and his dad basking in a sunset as they embraced one another, Kimberly wrote, "Happy day 🌷."

Following his diagnosis, James' father moved to their family's ranch to be there when the star is away for treatment. In a heartfelt birthday tribute to his dad on Instagram in January, the actor said his father helps make lunches, drives the kids and takes care of the dogs and chickens.

James, added, in part, that he is "blown away by how" his dad has "been there for me emotionally as I've moved through everything cancer brings up."

James further reflected on how he has balanced fatherhood with undergoing cancer treatment in a birthday tribute to his youngest son Jeremiah earlier in October.

"I'm sorry there have been spells where I couldn't be the father I would want to be for you… where I was too weak to pick you up, throw you around, or even put you to bed," the actor wrote, adding: "But know that watching you reveal yourself to us has been one of the greatest joys of my life."

They Had An 798 Credit Score But Still Got Rejected For A Personal Loan. Here's The Unusual Mistake They Kept Making Over And Over

A Reddit user with a nearly perfect 798 FICO score was stunned when Citi rejected their application for a personal loan. Despite never missing a payment and holding six open accounts with a 10-year credit history, the denial letter cited an unexpected reason: "Low balances on revolving accounts recorded on your credit bureau report."

Why A Perfect Score Wasn't Enough

The person shared screenshots showing their Experian report, with just $233 in credit card debt out of a $72,000 credit limit and a 0% credit utilization. That might sound ideal, but it actually backfired.

So why didn't they get approved for a loan? According to them, it's because they always pay off the balance before the statement comes out. As a result, their balances were always reported as zero.

Credit card issuers report balances to the credit bureaus on the statement closing date, not the due date. By paying off everything early, the person unintentionally erased any evidence of credit usage, making them look inactive in the eyes of lenders.

One top commenter summarized it clearly: "You don't need to 'carry' a balance to show usage. All you need to do is pay your statement balances in full monthly as opposed to paying your card to $0 before statement generation. That's where OP went wrong."

Trending: Wall Street's $12B Real Estate Manager Is Opening Its Doors to Individual Investors — Without the Crowdfunding Middlemen

Paying Early Can Backfire

Another contributor added, "You should not be paying off your balance before your statement closing dates. That's not how credit cards are designed to be paid. Treat them just like a utility bill. Once you receive your statement, THEN pay the statement balance off by the due date."

Many in the thread agreed that letting a small balance post each month before paying it off is a better way to show responsible usage without accruing interest. One suggested, "Let 5-10% report then pay it off after the statement. Should fix the problem pretty quick."

OP acknowledged the oversight: "I don't like to see a big number, but it's my fault. I'll set auto-pay after the statement now."

No Debt? No Loan

Some also pointed out that lenders may get suspicious when someone applies for a personal loan but has zero visible debt.

"They are questioning why you need a 'personal loan' when you have no debt," said one former loan officer. "Without any debt, most banks will flag a generic loan," another person said. "If OP allowed their credit card balances to report organically, the lender would have seen 'debt' and wouldn't have denied them."

The thread also warned against opening more accounts or taking loans just to build credit. "You don't need another card now," wrote one commenter. "Allow your accounts to age. You also shouldn't take on loans just for the sake of taking on loans. You're currently throwing away money on interest on a loan that you didn't need."

The original poster now plans to change their approach: "That's why I am going to carry some debt now and pay it off. I think they also don't see my debt management. It's always 0. But if I have debt every month and pay it off, that should work."

The statistics include home values from August 2024 and 2025, projecting to August 2026. Here's a rundown, starting with the 20th hottest market heading into the new year and ending with the hottest.

Methodology: For this piece, GOBankingRates examined the 300 largest Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) to assess real estate market performance using 12 key indicators drawn from Zillow's August 2025 dataset. These indicators included short- and long-term changes in home value, projected value trends over three months and one year, inventory levels, average time from listing to pending and from pending to close, list-to-sale ratios and pricing dynamics such as the share of listings with a price cut and the average size of those cuts. Each MSA was scored across all factors, with lower scores indicating stronger housing markets. To emphasize volatility and pricing pressure, the 3-month and 1-year changes in home value (both percentage and dollar), along with the share and size of price cuts, were weighted twice as heavily, while inventory was weighted at half strength. All data was collected on Oct. 7, 2025.
