Pink Rings in the New Year With a Health Update From Her Hospital Bed

Pinkis heading into 2026 with an upbeat attitude, despite spending New Year's Eve in the hospital. After all, as she put it so tactfully, "Rock 'n' roll is a contact sport," and the singer isknown for some impressive stunt work.

The "I Am Here" singer underwent a surgical procedure to replace a pair of discs in her neck before the clock struck midnight, putting a damper on any party plans this year—but setting her up forsuccessbefore returning to the road in the coming months.

Pink Was All Smiles, All Things Considered

Shortly after midnight EST on Jan. 1, the performing artist shared a photo from her hospital bed, celebrating the end of theYear of the Snakewhile expressing her excitement to ring in the Year of the Horse.

She smiled brightly for the selfie, a deep contrast to the wrinkled hospital gown she wore and the large white bandage securing some type of medical tubing—likely a wound vac or a drain—to her neck.

"I am leaving behind all of my hurt in 2025," she declared in the caption, calling the year "a doozy." Still, she found "so much beauty" in the year, too.

"I got to wake up every day and get out of bed and go about my business," she detailed. "The business of loving my children andhelping them to follow their dreams. Showing them thatlifeis an adventure or nothing at all. Loving and laughing, cooking and dancing, crying and screaming, forgiving and apologizing, and all the rest of our beautiful messiness."

"And I end the year giving reverence to, paying attention to, and fixing my body," she continued. "It may not be a fancy Face lift, but I am getting two new shiny discs in my neck. A new scar, a new reminder, that I appreciate this vessel that I have and use it for all it's worth."

She went on to give thanks for her ability to make the choice to have the surgery to improve her well-being, recognizing that not everyone has that privilege. "I will work this year to help preserve the choices of others to make for themselves and their families and this very pursuit ofhappiness," she pledged. "Let's do better for ourselves and for others. Let's not be afraid to take care of ourselves and others."

Thefamilyis incredibly active, with Jameson involved in kickboxing, baseball, golfandmotocross, Willow known towakeboardandski, and Hart, of course, formerly riding BMX bikes professionally.

Pink's Husband Underwent Emergency Surgery Earlier in 2025

Hart is also the most recent member of the family to undergo surgery, suffering a "nasty" accident this past springthat severed his small intestine from his colon and required 20 surgical staples in his chest.

It seems that things are back to normal for the athlete, since he's hitting the slopes, and we're glad to hear it. Hopefully, Pink will be following in his footsteps soon!

38 Bold Tweets That Hit A Nerve For A Lot Of People (New Pics)

You know the feeling when the news won't just stop, and at some point it all starts to feel exhausting, and repetitive. Luckily, the Internet always manages to come to the rescue.

We are talking about sarcasm, memes and those brutally honest posts that, let's be honest, are basically why most of us spend time online anyway.

And what better place to get your daily dose of humor than the'White People Twitter'subreddit, where the internet's collective mood is on full display in real time?

Don't worry, the screenshots posted here are less about race itself, and more about a cultural tone – witty, self-aware potshots at politicians, the rich and the privileged, as well as the absurd posts they post on Twitter (sorry, X) and BlueSky.

Sarcasm and internet memes seem to be the most common form of humor in political content, because sometimes laughing at the chaos is the only way to make sense of it all.

Terry Hanley, Professor of Counselling Psychology at The University of Manchester, says that satirical content resonates more with people because it simplifies complex situations into something "emotionally immediate."

"Humor lets people share opinions, frustration, or disbelief in ways that feel accessible and relatable. Online communities help people make sense of what's happening in the world together," he tellsBored Panda.

Political memes often come with their fair share of controversies, and this community is no exception.

Earlier this year, the subreddit wasbannedfor 72 hours after some of the comments and posts angered Elon Musk.

The official notice on Reddit explained the ban was due to "a prevalence of violent content," and added that "debate and dissent are welcome on Reddit - threats and doxing are not."

The comments in question were allegedly calling for violence against some political officials.

The controversy gained more traction after Musk had a public outburst on his own platform, X, saying that the online community broke the law.

Ever since the controversy, the community has become stricter, closely moderating comments and posts. They even pinned a PSA that reads: "Due to the recent climate in the US, reddit is interpreting these rules strictly."

Ironically, the controversy helped more people discover the community.

And how did Reddit users react to all this drama? With plenty of jokes, sarcasm and memes, of course.

But even in these communities, humor can easily drift into hostility if the norms are not clear.

Following the controversy, the subreddit's new rule states: "Do not post gifs that are or can be interpreted as being violent in nature, for example of guillotines."

Professor Hanley says what resonates most online is not always what is most accurate — it is often what feels "emotionally satisfying" in the moment.

"When people feel confused, angry, or overwhelmed, a sharp joke can feel clarifying and relieving. But that same simplicity can also flatten nuance, reinforce existing beliefs, or reward outrage over understanding," he adds.

That is why moderation decisions often need to tread the delicate line between user rights with community safety.

"When these ecosystems are well connected and well moderated, online communities can be a genuinely helpful part of how people cope and learn," the professor notes.

At the same time, humor can also be used to soften the online dialogue in general. Funny content can diffuse tension and anger, something which is all too common on social media platforms.

It gives people a much-needed breather from the typical comment wars and heated debates.

"Reddit communities can offer both information and emotional support, particularly for people who may feel isolated or overwhelmed," Professor Hanley believes.

He says these groups are part of wider ecosystems of support and learning, alongside journalism, education, professional services, and offline relationships.

Studiesalso show that humor mixed with politics somehow manages to grab our attention and makes all the messy, confusing political stories easier to understand.

"We often hear a lot about the downsides of being online, but these spaces are also where many people now get news, support, and a sense of connection. Used well, they can help people cope and feel understood — but they work best when paired with critical thinking and good moderation," Professor Hanley adds.

It is no wonder then that these spaces feel more united — after all, laughter really is contagious.

Cash machines in Bulgaria issue euros for the first time after joining the currency union

SOFIA, Bulgaria (AP) — Bulgarians began withdrawing euros for the first time on Thursday after the former communist nationjoined the euro currency union as its 21st member.

Cash machines in the capital, Sofia, dispensed brand new euro banknotes, replacing the lev, which will still be in use for cash payments in January. However, people will receive only euros in change.

The country of nearly 6.7 million people was one of the poorest when it first became a member of the European Union in 2007. Joining the European single-currency system means deeper EU integration after its 1989 transition from a Soviet-style economy to democracy and free markets.

However, the historic milestone arrivesamid political instability, with the conservative-led government forced to resign earlier this month following nationwideanti-corruption protests, and skepticism among ordinary people, fueled by fears of price rises.

The government had to beat down inflation to 2.7% earlier this year to comply with EU rules and win approval from EU leaders. But its resignation left the country withouta regular budgetfor next year, hampering reforms and the use of the 27-member bloc's support funds, fueling protests.

Nationalist and pro-Russian groups in Bulgaria have also exploited fears that the switch to the euro will allegedly lead to more poverty and loss of national identity.

Countries that join the EU commit to the euro, but actually joining can take years and some members are in no hurry. Croatia was the last to join in 2023.

Happy New Year! It may be January, but the weather hasn't always been either frigid cold or snowy on the holiday.

On Jan. 1, 2022, four years ago today, a weather station in the lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas reported a high of 99 degrees. This reading at the Falcon Lake Dam between Laredo and McAllen is both the hottest New Year's Day and January temperature on record in the U.S., according to weather historian Christopher Burt.

That's 20 degrees hotter than Death Valley, America's hottest place, has ever recorded on New Year's Day.

On the other end of the spectrum, Maybell, Colorado, once plunged to minus 60 degrees on Jan. 1, 1979, the coldest New Year's day temperature on record for the continental U.S., according to Burt.

If that wasn't chilling enough, on New Year's Day 1961, arecord-breaking ice stormfrom both freezing fog and freezing rain left up to 8 inches of ice accumulation in northern Idaho, leaving widespread damage to trees, and residents stuck in their homes without power.

It's been a long 2025NFLseason so far with twists, turns, shocking injuries, surprising contenders and disappointing years from preseason favorites.

As we come off another intriguing week of action across the league and approach the end of the season, the playoff picture is becoming more and more clear.

With just one week of the NFL regular season left, who's in, who's out and who still has a shot at making a postseason run for a spot in Super Bowl LX and a chance to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy on February 8 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Who's in?

(All teams listed by current seeding in each conference)

1.Denver Broncos(13-3, 1st AFC West): The Broncos already qualified for the postseason but still beat thePatrick Mahomes-lessKansas City Chiefs 20-13 on Friday. A win against the Los Angeles Chargers at Mile High in Week 18 will earn Denver top seed status in the AFC.

2.New England Patriots(13-3, 1st AFC East): New England will be lurking should Denver fail to wrap up the conference and the Pats will play the Miami Dolphins to close out the season.

3.Jacksonville Jaguars(12-4, 1st AFC South): The Jags are also still in the running for the first-round bye after beating the Indianapolis Colts in Week 17. They now host the Tennessee Titans in Week 18.

5.Houston Texans(11-5, 2nd AFC South): Houston's sensational defense has fired the franchise into the postseason for a third straight year. The team confirmed its place in the playoffs with a 20-16 win against the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday.

6.Los Angeles Chargers(11-5, 2nd AFC West): TheChargerswill be happy to have already locked up a postseason spot as they face a motivated Denver squad in the final week of the regular season.

7.Buffalo Bills(11-5, 2nd AFC East): After losing in dramatic circumstances against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Bills close out the year with a home game against the Jets having already secured their berth in the playoffs.

1.Seattle Seahawks(13-3, 1st NFC West): After missing the playoffs in the last two campaigns, theSeahawksare back in the postseason and tightened their grip on the No. 1 seed after beating the Carolina Panthers 27-10 in Week 17. Seattle now faces theSan Francisco 49ersin its last regular season game.

2.Chicago Bears(11-5, 1st NFC North):Da Bearshaven't made the postseason since 2020, so some celebration in the Windy City is merited, but Chicago has only made the playoffs twice since 2010 – and lost in the wild card round both times. After spending so many years in the proverbial wilderness, the team won't be content with just making it. The Bears take on the Detroit Lions in Week 18.

3.Philadelphia Eagles(11-5, 1st NFC East): The defending Super Bowl champions are back in the postseason to defend their title, but with hopes of a first-round bye now over, Philly may look to rest players ahead of a game against the Washington Commanders in Week 18.

5.San Francisco 49ers(12-4, 2nd NFC West): After missing the postseason last year, the Niners are back and looking dangerous. Starting QB Brock Purdy is back and playing incredibly as they host the Seahawks in Week 18 with the No. 1 seed in the conference at stake.

6.Los Angeles Rams(11-5, 3rd NFC West): The Rams round out an incredible NFC West, which has three teams in the playoffs. Los Angeles, though, suffered a surprise defeat against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 17 and closes out the regular season with a game against the Arizona Cardinals.

7.Green Bay Packers(9-6-1, 2nd NFC North): The Pack lost to Baltimore in Week 17 but still secured the NFC seventh seed heading into the playoffs. Off the back of three straight defeats, Green Bay heads to Minnesota in Week 18 to take on the eliminated Vikings.

Who's still got a chance?

4.Pittsburgh Steelers(9-7, 1st AFC North): The Steelers only had to beat the Cleveland Browns on the road last Sunday to secure their place in the playoffs, but blew the opportunity after losing 13-6. Pittsburgh now faces a winner-takes-all clash against its bitter rival, the Baltimore Ravens, in Week 18. Pittsburgh currently has a40% chanceof making the playoffs, according to the NFL.

9.Baltimore Ravens(8-8, 2nd AFC North): The Ravens had Super Bowl aspirations before the year kicked off with two-time MVP Lamar Jackson and star running back Derrick Henry, but it all seemed to fall apart with Jackson missing significant time due to injury. But results went their way on Week 17 and they beat the Packers 41-24. It all means that the NFL says the Ravens now have a 60% chance of reaching the postseason still.

4.Carolina Panthers(8-8, 1st NFC South): Carolina is still sitting first in its division despite losing to the Seahawks in Week 17. The Panthers still have a chance of reaching the postseason as they face a win-or-go-home game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 18. The NFL says Carolina has a 72% chance of making it to the playoffs.

11.Tampa Bay Buccaneers(7-9, 2nd NFC South): The Bucs lost to the Miami Dolphins in Week 17 and now everything hangs on the final game of the regular season against the Panthers. We'll see what happens but the NFL gives Tampa Bay just a 28% chance of progressing.

10.Miami Dolphins(7-9, 3rd AFC East)

11.Cincinnati Bengals(6-10, 3rd AFC North)

12.Kansas City Chiefs(6-10, 3rd AFC West)
