Ja Ruleis ready to become a grandfather.
While chatting with PEOPLE at the Dream360 grand opening party in New Jersey on Thursday, Nov. 13, the rapper and actor, 49, shared his excitement to become a grandfather. The soon-to-be grandfather says he's "very happy and excited" to welcome the new addition into the family.
"It's a blessing. I'm very, very happy and excited," he tells PEOPLE. "My first child was my daughter, a girl, and my first grandchild is also going to be a girl."

The "Put It on Me" rapper says his grandbaby will give him the opportunity to soften up more.
"If I wasn't soft enough, we are going take a second dose of it, but I'm so happy," he says. "I can't wait to see her."
"It's weird, you get older, and then you get back into little people mode," the rapper adds. "You want a little person around again in the house. All my kids are grown, so it's been a long time, so it's going to be a lot of fun for me and the missus."
Ja Rulefirst announced the exciting newsthat his daughter,Brittney Atkins, 30, is pregnant and expecting her first baby withhusband Tevin Aitkenduring his appearance on theSherrishow in October.
"I'm about to be a grandfather," he said, jokingly adding, "That don't even sound right."
When hostSherri Shepherdasked him how he found out the happy news, the soon-to-be grandfather recalled the "very cute" way his daughter broke the news to him.
"It was very cute the way she did it. She put the sonogram in a box and it was a card that said, 'You're now grandma and grandfather,' and the sonogram was in the thing," he explained.

Ja Rule went on to share more about the moment.
"And she said, 'I got a gift for you guys.' And we thought it was a real gift," he said, quickly adding that the news was a gift, but not what they expected. "So, we go into the room ... and we open it up, and she got the camera on."
"You can see my expression, see me in wifey's expression," he added. "And it was an amazing moment."
The dad of three already has the name his grandchild will call him picked out.
"I think I'm going to steal my name from theNotorious B.I.G.Yeah. I love it when they call me Big Poppa," he said, laughing.
After the announcement, Shepherd gifted him a custom-made cardigan with the words "Big Poppa" written on it.
"I love it," he said excitedly. "Big Poppa is in the building."
