Start-sit decisions can be vexing for even the best of fantasy managers, especially as we navigate the bye-week season. Here's our Week 14 traffic report to help you set those lineups.
Green Light ✅
TE Brenton Strange vs. Colts: He spent most of the year on injured reserve, but Strange has been a difference-maker since rejoining the lineup in Week 12 (TE5, TE5). The Colts generally funnel production to the middle of the field, allowing the fourth-most points to opposing tight ends.
WR Michael Wilson vs. Rams: He kept seven targets last week even with Marvin Harrison Jr. returning, and now Harrison (heel) has been ruled out. As such, Wilson becomes a proactive play. Arizona's passing volume is a glorious thing.
TE Kyle Pitts Sr. vs. Seahawks: He's made a career out of letting fantasy managers down, but Pitts has seen an opportunity bump with Kirk Cousins starting, and it's likely Drake London will sit again. And as outstanding as the Seattle defense has been, it does struggle against opposing tight ends.
WR Devaughn Vele at Buccaneers: The New Orleans passing game as a whole gets an upgrade against a Tampa Bay defense that funnels production to the pass. Vele has been involved for two straight weeks (including a tidy 8-93-1 last week) and the Saints keep their target concentration narrow.
Yellow Light 😕
WR Adonai Mitchell vs. Dolphins: He's quickly become the preferred target in New York, and he'd be in the upper section if tied to a better quarterback. Mitchell runs a lot of downfield routes and that brings in volatility, but he probably has eight targets in his back pocket even before this game starts.
RB Jordan Mason vs. Commanders: He's generally the team's No. 2 back in a timeshare, but Aaron Jones Sr. isn't 100%, so Mason could be looking at an opportunity bump. And Washington's defense is a dream matchup, allowing the third-most points to opposing running backs.
WR Zay Flowers vs. Steelers: He continues to produce solid yardage most weeks, but he hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 1. Lamar Jackson's injury issues have to be factored in as well. Flowers belongs in the WR3 bucket until further notice.
TE Darren Waller at Jets: I understand if you don't want to tie yourself to Tua Tagovailoa, but recognize that Waller is still a featured part of this passing game, especially at the goal line. Waller is also a good grab for the lookahead schedule, with Pittsburgh and Cincinnati games coming soon.
Red Light 🚨
RB Bam Knight vs. Rams: If he's going to pay off this week against the Rams, he'll need some touchdown luck. The Rams rank fourth in run defense DVOA and parcel out just 3.9 yards per attempt.
WR Justin Jefferson vs. Commanders: Always remember that our game is about numbers, not names. With sophomore QB J.J. McCarthy failing to launch, we need to recalibrate this entire passing game. Jefferson has made it inside the WR25 range just one time in his last seven starts.
TE Oronde Gadsden II vs. Eagles: His production has come down in recent weeks and it's unlikely to bounce back here, as the Eagles have erased tight ends all season. The Chargers' passing game is also in limbo, with Justin Herbert (hand) likely to be limited, if he even plays at all.
WR Brian Thomas Jr. vs. Colts: At some point a poor start downshifts into a poor season, and Thomas has reached that area. He's managed a paltry 5-83-0 line since returning two games ago, and the Jaguars have pivoted to other options.
