The palace said that Albert underwent "a scheduled, short medical procedure on his scalp and face to treat a benign condition" following a dermatological check-up

Prince Albertof Monaco has undergone a medical procedure, the Princely Palace of Monaco announced.
In a statement released on Jan. 16, the palace said that the 67-year-old sovereign prince underwent a scheduled dermatological procedure on his scalp and face to treat a benign condition.
"The Princely Palace reports that, as part of a routine dermatological follow-up, H.S.H. Prince Albert II underwent a scheduled, short medical procedure on his scalp and face to treat a benign condition," the statement read. "The procedure required a few stitches. The Sovereign Prince's schedule of activities continues as normal."
Prince Albert has reigned as Monaco's head of state since April 2005, when he ascended the throne following the death of his father, Prince Rainier III. He marked the20th anniversary of his accession in 2025.

Albert and his wife,Princess Charlene, share twin childrenPrince JacquesandPrincess Gabriella, 11. Prince Jacques is the heir to the throne and follows his father in the direct line of succession.
Charlene, whom Prince Albert married in 2011, has spoken openly in recent years about her own health struggles. The former Olympic swimmer spent much of 2021 receiving treatment for what the palace described as an ear, nose and throat infection, followed byexhaustion and emotional strain that required further medical care. Charlene gradually returned to public duties in 2022.
Speaking toPEOPLE magazine, Albert said: "I'm really proud of my wife. Charlene's doing really well. As you can see for yourself, she's been active in any number of different events. Charlene's engaging more in public life and looking after things that she's passionate about, " Albert told PEOPLE at the time.
