Bowen Yanghad a different vision for how his final sketch atSaturday Night Livewould go.

Before hebid a tearful farewellto the show last month, Yang had wanted more cast members and more chaos in his final sketch, he shared on hisLasCulturistaspodcast. The Emmy nominee said that "ideally the entire cast" would have been in the "Delta Lounge" sketch, which saw Yang playing an eggnog machine operator at an airline lounge wrapping up his final day on the job.

The comedian co-wrote the sketch with formerSNLwriter Celeste Yim, who had departed the show earlier in 2025. In their original idea, Yang said they had planned on the eggnog machine malfunctioning and spraying everywhere.

"It did just come down to logistics... It got to be too much," he said.

TheWickedstar said that castmates Mikey Day and Sarah Sherman were supposed to clean up the spilt eggnog. Kenan Thompson and Jane Wickline, who made the final cut of the sketch, were initially going to get splashed.

Instead, Yang said thatSNLboss Lorne Michaels approached him after dress rehearsals and encouraged him to "play into the emotion" of the goodbye. He took the note and made the changes, resulting in the bittersweet sketch.

"Lorne Michaels knows how to produce," Yang said.

TheFire Islandactor also revealed that a family reunion sketch featuring Cher was shelved. His podcast cohost Matt Rogers teased him for still getting cut at the end of his run, although Yang said even a veteran like Thompson can't escape the chopping block.

Yang revealed that there was actually an unofficial "designated Bowen spot" in the weekly rundown of sketches, which was part of the reason he decided to leave the show.

"That's also my cue to leave, like I do not want the footprint to be edging out other people," Yang said.

"I can't believe I got to work there," he said. "And I said in the sketch, that is the thing that I will like keep saying, like it feels like it happened to someone else. I'm so glad it happened to me."
