Harrison Ford Sums Up Pal Helen Mirren With One Perfect Word

Harrison Forddidn't need a long speech—or flowery praise—to sum up how he feels aboutHelen Mirren.

When presenting her with the Golden Globe Awards' Cecil B. DeMille Award he chose a single word: "badass."

Ford, 83, and Mirren, 80, appeared together at the Golden Eve event on Tuesday,January6, ahead of the 2025Golden Globes, where the Golden Globe Awards honored Mirren for her lifetime contributions to film and television. It's safe to say the award is one of the ceremony's highest distinctions.

"I first met Dame Helen when she played my character's wife in Peter Weir'sMosquito Coast,"Ford said, recalling their 1986 collaboration, revealing that everyone on set referred to her as "mother." He noted that decades later, they reunited onscreen in 1923, though this time the dynamic was very different. "The word that comes to mind is not Dame. It's badass. And when she goes full badass, it's awesome to watch."

Mirren, clearly touched, reflected on her more than 50-year career during her acceptance speech. She shared that the Globes were "the very first organization in America to give me an award" when she won forLosing Chasein 1997. While acknowledging the DeMille Award is often framed as career recognition, she put it another way: "I prefer to think of it as alifelived, a life survived, a life enjoyed."

True to form, Mirren kept things light, joking, "Although I have to say if this were my memorial, looking out at this audience, I'm absolutely thrilled at who showed up for me, and I am making a list of the no-shows."

And before the ceremony, wholesome footageof the besties was caught on the red carpet. In videos circulating online, Harrison and Mirren can be spotted having a conversation, before theIndiana Jonesstar gave the Dame multiple kisses on her hand and cheeks.

The hour-long ceremony aired live onCBSon Thursday, January 8, and can be streamed on apps like DirectTV, Fubo, and Hulu (if you have the live TV add-on).

Off the stage, Mirren continues to prove Ford's point. At 80, she's still ared carpet standout. InDecember, she attended the King's Trust Carol Concert 2025 in London wearing a bright green, form-fitting long dress with sleeves paired with black pointed-toe boots, silver jewelry, and red nails. The look was polished and confident—much like Mirren herself.
